  1. Oh - and the cute figurines up on the monitors... yeah, he knocked them of years ago...
  2. You laugh, but that damn cat, Chandler is his name, has made it his mission in life to ALWAYS sit in front of the monitor where I currently have the more important stuff up. And when I push him aside, he bites me.
  3. The answer is in the first post of this thread.
  4. As the name says, they are validation errors. Meaning code is not up to standard, so not valid. As to how to fix them depends on what the error is. If you use Firefox and have installed the Web developer Add-on (it's a fantastic tool all around) under its Tool tab, it provides several validation options. Just go to whatever website, pick and click!!
  5. The only time inline styling is useful is when you are styling something that is unique for that very 'spot' on your entire website. But as soon as it is applied more than one time, inline styling is no longer a good idea.
  6. I totally disagree. Understanding anything is never useless. There is a perfect good reason to use inline styles under certain circumstances, but one has to understand the difference in order to make that determination.
  7. Glad you're up and running. It is so frustrating than when something isn't working as expected and one cannot figure out why.
  8. With Wordpress installed, look into your directory, and you'll find a folder called wp-content. In there, is one called themes'. That's where the template needs to go into. Once that is done, log into your Wordpress panel, go to Appearance - Themes - and there you should see the default theme and your template. Then just activate it. Hope this helps.
  9. I think the picture is great - no guessing that we're looking at students learning here. Kittens are cute, but I think your photo gets the point across so much better:
  10. Do you have the link to the files that you are working on - not the original template? What are you trying to do - start a whole new site that didn't exist before, or add the Wordpress part to an existing site?
  11. This is a Wordpress Template. Do you have a Wordpress site already? I haven't bought any WP templates, but I've used the themes. I imagine it's the same principle.
  12. The first thing would be to make sure you have all the files and folders uploaded in the proper directories. If you can post the link to the online version here so we can look at it, we can probably help you out more specifically.
  13. Just Google 'Dreamweaver' and let us know if you have any specific questions.
  14. As you said, the physical address for your business is essential information. I don't see any issue having it where it is. What I see that doesn't look right to me is the 2 'home' s on the top and all that white space. Also, there should be a space between 1200 and sft, and all your bullet lines are capitalized but the last one.
  15. Now it's working. That spinning globe is so 1995 --- just sayin' In your html, you still have the following mistakes: incomplete doctype an h tag should not be inclose inside a p tag h tags are meant for headers, not regular text. Regular text goes between p tags The reason your H1 isn't showing the bluish color you specified is because of a mistake in your CSS - where you define the #maintext, you are using round bracket - ( - instead of the curly ones '{' which keeps the browser from reading anything beyond that mistake.
  16. My eyes!!! My eyes!!!!! But no, I've never seen this before. Interesting.... and a bit unsettling.
  17. That sometimes happens when the anchor is being overlapped by a different division. Do you have a link to the page so we can see the entire thing in action?
  18. Looks like I overlooked this part: I don't think so.
  19. You should be able to give somebody else certain permissions. I don't have access to WP at the moment, but check around the dashboard. You should be able to find what you're looking for.
  20. Don't mind me either - I didn't see the link in the header. DUH!!
  21. kookoolarue, what exactly are you reviewing? There is no link to whatever OP may have referred to and that original post is from May last year...
  22. There's way too much white space there for my taste. I also expect a website to tell me right away what it's all about, yours does not. And I'd expect the portfolio samples to be links so I can look at the real thing. Too bad you don't remember your old log-in info here - I've been around here for years and probably know you.
