  1. Thanks, Alfie. Content is mostly the site owner's task, and I believe that people who might research scuba on Roatan already know where it it. If you like the small-tropical-island-in-the-Carribean kind of thing, I can highly recommend it.
  2. Hmmm -- I'll have to check that code thing out. I certainly wouldn't be linking to my stylesheet at the bottom on purpose..... Thanks for the feedback.
  3. Saturday, my latest site went live: http://www.roatan-octopusdiveschool.com/ - any thoughts? I still haven't figured out why there is a gap above the index page banner, below the navigation on all browsers but FX, but I think I can live with it. Overall, I thing the new site is a huge improvement over the original Either way, any input on further improvement will be appreciated.
  4. If you want to use your picture as a website background, it'll have to be a jpg, gif, or png - a PDF won't work as a background image - or any image for that matter.
  5. The issue still seems to be that you are the only one in this discussion who feels this passionate about the entire topic. I'm not saying you're the only one, just that none of your like-minded fellows have found this conversation yet. While we're waiting for their arrival, maybe you can study http://www.copyright.gov/title17/ and let Stef &Co know if his work here is in any imminent danger. I'm sure he'd appreciate any heads up.
  6. Not sure who you're talking to, but I'm no employee. My presence here is strictly voluntary, and I'm not compensated for my forum contributions. And again, I get that the use of the word 'movie' in this context bugs you, but it does not have the same - or any - effect on me. Sorry.
  7. I've never even watched any Lynda tutorials. So far, everything I needed, I found on Killersites. I agree with Ben, nobody here will be able to tell you why Lydia might do or call something the way they do - we're Killersites, not Lydia. And as to this being a touchy subject, it seems to be so only for you.
  8. Who are 'some'? How do you feel about incorrect grammar and punctuation in the English language? Now that's a topic that I get excited about. Drives me nuts when people write an obvious question and don't end it with a question mark - even worse when there is no punctuation whatsoever. I feel the same about missing apostrophes between 'what' and (i)s or 'I' and (a)m, etc.
  9. I've been googling, but have not found anything yet that seems to address my issue/concern: I have built a site using wordpress. It's currently located under a temporary domain, meaning seceral of the links within are www.temporary.com/whatever. I am about to point the permanent URL/ actual domain name to the site, and the temporary URL will go away. What do I have to do to the existing pages so the internal absolute paths don't all break?
  10. Don't worry about that - we're here to get things done - now which name is the off-centered one?
  11. Ok - you have 2 sets of names inside the h2 tags. Which one is the event director that some people see not centered?
  12. I looked at the site in Firefox, IE11, chrome, Safari, and Opera - the site looked the same. Who is the event director that's out out place at times and what browser are those people who see it off using? Looking at your code, I have the following comments: The h tags are meant to be used for titles in order of relevance. so your most important title (often the page name) would be h1, secondary titles would be h2, etc. You're not using these tags semantically correct, however, that would not explain your centering issue. I also notice that in your listing of names, on several spots you put a space before the comma. This has nothing to do with webdesign, but if you want to write correctly, it should be NameCommaSpaceName - not NameSpaceCommaSpaceName. You're using the <center> tag which is deprecated, and there is an empty abbr tag which serves no purpose. You say you have the p centered in your CSS - but there is no <p> in your html.
  13. I've been using iPage for a few years now, and have no complaints. Others here have reported good experiences with HostGator, and Killersites also offers Hosting: http://www.killersites.com/web-hosting/
  14. I've never done anything like that before, but it'll definitely require a database and PHP or something similar - in addition to html and css required to build the site itself. There may be something out there like Wordpress and it's plugins that might do something like that, but I have never researched this kind of thing.
  15. No worries - I'm watching all of them
  16. Are you interested in actually learning webdesign or do you just want to put together a website? There are plenty of free wysiwyg editors out there, or you could use Wordpress and one of its many templates to help you with this. If you are interested in actually learning webdesign, you can get a start here: http://www.how-to-build-websites.com/ There really is no easy way to just 'tell' you how to build a website.
  17. HA! I remember Thelma. Wonder what ever happened to her. And David's baby, that kid is 11 now. I found Killersites through LSW and some old MSN website forum, but I could swear it's been longer than 2003.
  18. Welcome - I'm curious, so. Would visiting with an iPad and being redirected to the Russian site have done any kind of damage to the iPad?
  19. The OP is from October 2012 - I figure nobes has moved on by now.
  20. Same to you - and everybody else on here!!
