conzy22 Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 Hey all, Anyone know how to put meta tags behind photos on each of my web pages? I already have them in the HEAD section, but I heard you can put them behind photos as well to boost search engines probability of showing your site when people search the keywords behind photos... a. Is this true? b. How can I do this? Thanks, Jahara Quote
Susie Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 I can't imagine how you could put meta tags behind photos...unless I've missed something along the way. You can, however, specify information about the photo in the alt tag. In general, images that are purely decorative do not need anything in the alt tag and can be written like this: Images that are important to the content of the page should have something in the alt tag. It should be just a few short words that clearly explain what is seen in the image. I will say that I doubt that it's beneficial to load the alt tag with keywords, so I would recommend against that. LSW Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 I would say no it is not, meta tags are only in the head. Otherwise Susie hit it on the head. Smart cookie that one. Quote
monkeysaurus Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 And if you want to be really thorough, you can use the longdesc attribute: http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/objects.html#adef-longdesc-IMG Quote
