administrator
Not that I am going to do anything about it, but man, the old web design forum gets a lot more traffic that our new one here. ... What can you do! Stefan
newseed
Too bad you could not migrate the old forum database over to this one and then do redirects for the old pages to the new.
administrator
Too bad you could not migrate the old forum database over to this one and then do redirects for the old pages to the new. Indeed. We looked into it and even got some outside experts in database/forum migration and it was a no go because of the strange design of the Java forum. But, I am starting an active campaign to push people/visitors from the old forum to this forum. ... Even now, a year or so after being offline, we still get 500-600 visits within 30 minutes on the old forum. When it was active, we used to get 1000+. newseed
Somehow you need to be able to apply a big red notice that gets displayed on every forum topic indicating that the forum is archived and encourage them to visit the new forum. What you have now is going to be missed by most people. It's just not clear enough. If you are able, I would rework the old forum's header so thats it's evident that even a blind person can see it. administrator
I agree. Now that the server is just about fully functional, I can look at this. Thanks for the suggestions. Stefan
