  1. yeah I wouldn't touch it with any of my bread and butter businesses. But for someone on page 1001 on google got nothen to loose.
  2. Run this by you... While doing some research for something I was buying I came across a business that did a tricky, yet successful, SEO trick. Say their main domain was say www.donuts.com. This particular business also bought a few hundred other domain names like californiadonuts.com or buydonuts.com or chocolatedonuts.com or donutsinflorida.com etc. In doing so, they completely dominate google. Reason being, if your search term has the same words as the domain the domain comes up first. So basically they bought up all the search terms. Then they actually had a separate page for all these landings. Then when you go to purchase anything then it redirects to their main domain. Now... I think google doesnt like redirects. You could possibly do a DNS redirect instead. Don't know much about all that though. What are your thoughts? Seems like a pretty sure fire way to be on top. Worked for them. You "could" just redirect imediatly so they never even land on these other pages. However that may confuse people and/or aggravate them as it did me.
  3. Your welcome. Alternatively you could just clear that slideshow in another way (overflow hidden or something). But the AP should work fine with no top/left values. It's already inside a div so another seems redundant. I would just use a p regardless of where it was located though. Any extra would offer no benefit.
  4. it's because of the clear both you have on the h3's. Either remove that or you can try adding this to your p instead. Seems to work fine. <p id="rebate" style="position:absolute; width:100px"></p>
  5. If you put the new div in the navigation div that should prevent that unwanted behavior. Or by putting in under the navigation div and also floating it.
  6. Normally I would say add img {vertical-align:bottom}. But since all those are position absolute that shouldn't matter. Just adjust the top value for the two bottom images. They shouldn't be in divs or AP'd to begine with though. Should put them in a unordered list and remove the AP.
  7. Morning, You mean separating it vertically? If so, just give it a larger line-height.
  8. tv with internent link. There is the future. That's what I'll be getting one of these days. Was the internent tv more expensive than the others?
  9. I feel like I just entered the 21st Century. I got wireless internent and a Wii. And a Netflix and Gamefly account (left blockbuster). Netflix streams movies instantely to the Wii on our main TV. And my iPhone has WiFi now. I'm having fun with my new setup. Now I just need a new TV. The one we have I purchased 17 years ago and both kids have put numerous holes and cracks on the screen (big screens were made dif back then). What set up do you guys got?
  10. Here is all you need for html5. Maybe some PHP fix for IE will popup some day soon. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset=utf-8> <title>title</title> <style> header, footer, nav, section, article { display:block; } header { background:yellow; } nav { width:30%; background:orange; float:left; } section { width:65%; background:green; float:right; } article { width:70%; margin:40px 60px; background:turquoise; } footer { background:pink; clear:both; } </style> <!--[if lt IE 9]><script> document.createElement("header"); document.createElement("footer"); document.createElement("nav"); document.createElement("article"); document.createElement("section"); </script><![endif]--> </head> <body> <header>header</header> <nav>nav</nav> <section>section <article>article</article> <article>article</article> </section> <footer>footer</footer> </body> </html>
  11. Here is a good article http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2009/05/26/html-5-now-or-never/
  12. Seems the only solution is the throw some js to ie. http://ejohn.org/blog/html5-shiv/ I suspect there will be many coders (eg hand coders) that prefer to use the div/id setup anyways. The doctype is nice though.
  13. ...or reservation php script, reservation JavaScript, jquery reservation or booking, etc. I found quit a bit with those
  14. You could use pure css to do it.
  15. Just give it position fixed with no left/right/top/bottom. It will position from where it lies in the html. Use margins to place it. Otherwise you have to wrap it in a AP container and position it off that.
  16. Wow thanks guys for purchasing it. Feel free to let me know what you think and if there is anything you wish I expanded on more. Ahhh gaining weight... the fun part! Weight loss... not so much. I've been trying to lean up for the last three weeks - no fun. Sure I'd love to share some weight gain tips. In truth, I'm better at that than the other. There are three ways to gain weight. Assuming your working out with weights etc... One: as your friend already tried, is to simply eat a lot. That gains weight very quick but you also gain fat. Two: eat tons of protein. That gains weight (primarily more muscle) fairily slow but you gain no fat. Three: my prefered method! Primer... there are basically three parts to muscle. Muscle tissue, water, and blood. The water and blood compromising about 80% of your muscle. So now knowing this... suppliment your diet with Creatine, L-glutimine, and L-arginine (AKA Nitrix), and at least a gallon of water a day. The creatine and glutimine will turn your muscles into a sponge and soke up water. The Arginine will fill your muscles full of blood (all day). Basically it simulates a muscle pump - the poor mans . That's about it. I can gain a pound a day for thirty days doing that. This way ads weight very quick with little fat gain (mostley muscle gain). And that should be what your friend wants. Creatine will also give you a little bloat in your skin but disapates relatively quickly once discontinued.
  17. Thanks everybody - I appreciate your support! Regulars, if you want, if you PM me your email I'll email you back the entire ebook.
  18. Morning, I finally published my eBook! It tuned out quit nice. You can preview half the book for free. I'm in the process of getting it on ipad, iphone, etc. Easier said than done.
  19. Most likely it will show in ie7 if you place the nav below the rest of the page elements (some or all) in the html.
  20. Here is all the functionality. You'd prob have to change a few things. http://www.visibilityinherit.com/code/jquery-animated-hover.php
  21. I do web design (or any other computer related activity) from 4am to 6am and hit the gym from 6am to 7am and daycare from 7:30am to 5:30pm each day.
  22. Thank you Stefan! No name yet. Our other boys names are London and Julian (5yr and 3yr), so it needs to be on par with theirs. Different but not weird. I know it's on a different level than Wordpress or similar, but Surreal CMS editor is probably as easy and intuitive as you get. You can play with my demo if you'd like.
  23. Thanks. No - not a penny. Oh well. Chalk that up to my one failed buisiness venture. Hopefully there are no more of those. It was funny. Each person I spoke to about had the same reaction. They just leave that up to their designer. And they were all to afraid to make any edits themselves for fear of breaking something. Even though that's not an issue at all.
  24. I have a new avatar! Web design - haven't had a client in about 6 months. Just been coding up demos and doing the Sitepoint css quizes to try and ward of mental boredom. I just did a pure css lighbox with next button. I wrote a book on weight loss - turned out real nice. Tried to publish it, but gave up there. Tomorrow morning I'll finish the legal disclaimer and I'm going to start pushing it on the ebook side. Maybe I'll make a couple dollars. No big - I just needed to see it through. My wife and I are expecting our third boy in a couple months. We're scared! Mind you we watch 12 children all day in our daycare as well. Lots of work.
  25. I guess you just have to hire someone you can trust. Keep me in mind - would love to help!
