Guest alvinbert
I would like to know people's opinions. Do you think it is best to redirect pages not found back to your default page, or to have a custom 404 Not Found page?
Andrea
I think customized 404 page that fits into the look of the site looks better, but doubt somebody is going to come back to your site because you have a customized 404 page or not because you don't - unless your 404 page is so darn special that it's more fun to visit than those pages that actually matter. ericlenhard
I think it's best not to redirect. Sometimes it's misleading. If you immediately see a 404 error then you go on, you see that the page does not exist. But if you redirected, you trying to get to that page again and again. Andrea
Looks like I didn't read the question quite properly - I agree with Eric - it would be confusing to mean to go one place and land on another - especially since nothing would tell you that you've been redirected.
