Susie Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Does anyone here work with flash? I have a new maintenance client who needs me to add items to their menu, but it's all in flash and I don't see how to edit it. I need to add some links. Also complicating matters for me is the fact that the pages are all in .asp . So, how do I edit a menu (it's clearly a template from one of the template mills) that's powered by flash?
PicnicTutorials Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Hi You need the source (.fla or other don't remember) and a flash editor. So a flash guy is most likely needed.
jlhaslip Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Susie, I don't do Flash, but have a friend who does. I will check to see if he is able to mod the file for you and advise as soon as I hear back from him. I'll simply pass on this link to him, and he might contact you (or not).
Susie Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 I knew I would need a flash editor, but the thing is, I've been through all the files on the server and I don't see a single .fla file. So, I wasn't sure if something else could generate the menu or not. Jlhaslip, I would love to hear from your friend if he has time and can help. Thanks!
lm Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 most of the time nobody upload .fla to the server as all Flash embed in .swf format. So indeed, you'll need source .fla file and then export it to .swf after you've made changes.
Susie Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 Hmm... I wonder - is there a free flash editor that's good? I've googled it but I don't know what's what. I don't trust no namers. lol
lm Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 I bet you'll rather need Flash self and the version of your source .fla made in. Old versions of Flash are incompartible with newer ones. Adobe "promote" new editions this way.
jlhaslip Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 hey, Susie, ... My friend won't be available for a few days. Probably all week or 10 days.
falkencreative Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Susie, I'm happy to look at this if you want... I have Flash. However, as other commenters have mentioned, I think one needs the original FLA file, which I'm guessing may not be available.
Susie Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 Hmm...let me take a look at the files on the server again and see what I can find.... Thanks!
