  1. I guess I fit the grandpa coder demographic, although I am not a grandpa, but I am 61.
  2. Hi all, I bought the course in 2019, did the HTML part and then got sidetracked. During the sidetracking I worked on Python and also learned some networking for work. I recently started a new job and think it would be good for me to know how to build a basic web page. So I decided to shift focus for a bit and go through this course and finish it. I don't think I'll ever be a developer, but I work in broadcast and everything is a webpage! I used Python in my career for file manipulation, taking exported files, changing the information and importing them back in to the device. That has worked great and I enjoyed it. But I think it would be useful to write web pages that allow me to interact with various audio and video devices such as servers. I can see how interacting with APIs will be important, etc. But the next step is to learn how to build a basic page. My inspiration for this was seeing a page that my new boss built amd I thought, I can learn to do that! Anyway, I'm at it again!
  3. Thanks for the advice. I thought about it and said to myself, I'll just make a website at home that shows the tags in the lessons! It's perfect practice and practical for when I need to remind myself of the tags.
  4. I'm doing the Beginners HTML course, it's going very well. Do I need your book? I'm not having trouble understanding the code and I practice with the videos. I just wasn't sure if there are other topics I'll need in the book.
  5. Hi all. I'm new to Killersites, so I'll give my, hopefully, quick intro. I have a career in broadcast audio but started thinking about programming for fun, and maybe a side job. I have been doing an open courseware class on programming with python, which has been good. Although you don't get tested and there's no feedback. On my YouTube feed I see programming videos and recently Stefan's videos came up. I was impressed by his direct manner and how he speaks with clarity. I wrote him for some advice on programming vs. web development as a freelance job. He responded quickly, which impressed me. So I just signed up for the web developer course. Once I get a little further into it I'll probably get the freelancer course, because I will need help with that! I am going to finish off the programming with python class. But my focus will be on the web development course. My goal is to have a side hustle that I find satisfying and I can make some good money.
