  1. Does that mean you're working locally? What code are you using to link to the home page? I wonder if it's because a full path is required....
  2. The first one - yuck! The second one - pitiful. lol And several of my clients are right up there with most of those interviewed. Here's one I just ran across: http://www.vendorclientvideo.com/ I've dealt with this, too.
  3. Try this: http://css-tricks.com/video-screencasts/25-designing-for-wordpress-part-one/
  4. Yeah, I see that now. When I read your post, I searched and only found that he was in the hospital. Then just minutes later, I read that he was gone. Hard to believe.
  5. Very sad. Where did you hear about Michael Jackson? All I can find is that he was rushed to the hospital with a possible heart attack.
  6. Hmmm... it's still not working for me. Am I missing something? I have this in the template where I want the flash item to show: <br /> swfobject.embedSWF("banner.swf", "banner", "800", "280", "8.0.0");<br /> Is the issue the fact that I'm doing this in Wordpress? Edit to add: I just added the full path to banner.swf and it still doesn't work.
  7. I am trying to embed this header: http://tinyurl.com/nnxu86 into this page: http://tinyurl.com/ms8hql . I have zero experience with flash and I've been searching for clues on how to make this work but haven't found the solution yet. Hopefully it's something simple. I have the following files in the theme folder: banner.swf banner.xml swfobject.js home-collage.jpg I have following in the head: swfobject.embedSWF("banner.swf", "banner", "800", "280", "8.0.0"); And I have the following in the home-page.php template: If you see this you need to install Adobe flash player. I know I'm missing something, but I have no idea what it is. Can someone help? Thanks!
  8. I've used CMS Made Simple a lot and though I found it confusing at first too, I did find it to be relatively simple to use. I just had to get used to the smarty template tags. Is there a specific question you have? I can help you get started.... By the way, when I first started, I took the templates that came installed by default, pulled all the template tags, and then inserted them in my own XHTML page. Then I added that as a new template and it worked great. Edit to add: Have you see this? http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/Main_Page
  9. Has anyone had success with integrating simpleviewer pro with the wp-simpleviewer plugin? If so, I have a couple questions!
  10. I always just use the Month and name option and it works fine. I, too, use WP as a CMS. The pages just show their page name in the url.
  11. I'm curious, too. For this particular project, I only need the butterflies in the header area which is above all the links.
  12. Well, I'm using IETester for IE 6 and it works fine there. No flicker.
  13. I agree, lm. I'm not seeing anything good in JS of .gif. I want to learn more about your suggestion of embedding some flash with a transparent bg.... I found a few options here: http://flashden.net/searches?term=flying+butterflies&type=files I would have NO idea on how to implement them, though. Are you available for some work, lm?
  14. You know, that's a good idea. I will see what I can come up with. Though, I will say that I tried to implement this script and it did not work for me.
  15. I have a client who wants me to add flying butterflies to her website. I know - yikes. Does anyone have an idea of a good script to use? I am only capable of implementing javascript ones instead of a flash solution. I found this but I really don't like it.
  16. And so it begins.... I took my website down a couple months ago (I think?) with the intention of putting a new one up within a couple weeks of that time. It's still down........... haha
  17. I've had that happen before. It's a strange issue. Can you post a link so we can take a look? It might be something as simple as you've added an extra space somewhere. Check the CSS where you have url(imagename.jpg). There should be no space between url and the ( .
  18. Hello, It sounds like you've got the BOM characters showing. Check this thread for a possible solution: http://www.killersites.com/forums/topic/265/i-bom-characters/ .
  19. I need a break. lol Thanks, Eric. See, told you it would be something silly.
  20. I know this is going to be something silly..... http://tinyurl.com/cr2wmr Only IE is showing the bullets in the list located under "Your Dreams Come True". Can you see my mistake??
  21. I'm definitely not talking about anchor links. I mean...you are reading on a page, scrolling down the whole time, and you click on a link. After you are finished reading the new stuff at the link, you click the Back button. Sometimes you are taken right back to where you left off and sometimes you are taken to the top of the page. The cache idea is interesting. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Although, I just did a little test and all my sites that are powered by Wordpress take you back to where you left off. However, the sites powered by CMS Made Simple do not. Hmmmmmm........ More investigation.....
  22. Actually, you can set Wordpress up so that people can comment without registering.
  23. On some websites, when I click the back button, I am taken right back to the spot in the page where I was reading. Sometimes, however, I'm taken to the top of the page and have to scroll back down to where I was. I don't see anything in the code that controls that, but maybe I'm missing it. How can I always make sure users are returned to the spot where they were reading rather than the top of the page?
  24. $28.00 per month?! I can't even imagine. I closely identify with your friend paying $700 per month.
  25. Thanks, lm. I figured out a way to make the photos look okay.
