Item population in Javascript like flash

Can anyone tell me if you can do anything like this in Javascript instead of flash?

I'm not sure if you can make the animation quite as smooth, but I don't see why you couldn't do something that worked about the same way. Basically, the visitor would click on an option, and you would hide/display/change png images so the character changes clothes. You'd either need images of every combination, or a base image that you would then layer transparent PNGs on top of (one png for the pants, one for the shirt, etc.)
