AnthonyJ
Hi Guys, As programmers/coders do you recognize/respect the W3 Schools certification program?
falkencreative
Personally, I recognize it, but wouldn't use that as a basis for knowing if someone is a quality coder. At least in my opinion tests don't mean much -- it just means you studied for a test. If I was looking to hire a subcontractor, I'd expect to see a high quality portfolio first, and certifications/schooling is a minor issue. If it's a choice between doing a certification and putting together a personal portfolio site, I'd go with the portfolio site. That said, if you don't have a portfolio, certifications can't hurt. But I still wouldn't hire someone without examples of past work unless they were a personal/family friend.
