richdj
Hey everyone, Firstly, I only have a basic knowledge of PHP etc. I've been doing basic (HTML) sites for a while. But have a good grasp on HTML. So I'm after some direction. Can someone point me in the right place for a beginer (PHP) in how to set up a 'Search' facility (say for the catalogue tutes). and how I can set up a direct DL from some paying via paypal. Say some buys on my site, how can I give them a direct download link. Something akin to when I bought the tutes from killersites.. It does not do digital download, but it covers much of what you need: - paypal - shopping cart - more advanced php learning I hope that helps, Stefan
administrator
In terms of site search; you have several options as to how to approach this: Create something from scratch ... bad idea most of the time. Set your site up in a CMS/blog, so you can use the built-in blog search engine. Use Google's free search tool. Use a free pre-made PHP search script - easy to find on the web. I've done all of the above and I now use Google search because it works well, probably helps a little with SEO. Though I have to say, I find the blog search results get overwhelmed by older content on the site. ... So for the blog, I may go back to the built-in engine. They are excellent, and have proved invaluable so far.. I would like to be able to add the 'immediate download' that the tutes themselves have.. Stefan OK, I'm really 'noob' in this area. I am thinking ahead. I would like to make a catalogue, which I'm happy with. But want to enable a 'Search facility' within the catalogue.
