inishmaan Posted February 7, 2013 Report Posted February 7, 2013 I have a wordpress blog that i had put way too many tags and categories into and I used a plugin called Term Management to merge them. But now I'm seeing several hundred 404 messages in my Webmaster account that all appear to be for the pages these tags and categories used to generate but now no longer exist. Is this a big problem for me with Google and is there any way to fix it. I did this several months ago but 404s are still happening regularly. Thanks!
grabenair Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 Some plugins do not play well with others. I would suggest that you uninstall the plugin and do a manual organization of your files and folders.
newseed Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 I would think that the plugin has organized your categories/links by merging them into other categories which is why you are getting errors because the urls have changed.

But if I take tags out of alot of old posts and insert a newer, simpler system of tags, won't there still be lots of 404s generated by the old tags? Thanks for helping out.
