HTML 1.0  days, when tables were the go-to layout tool, and spacer.gif was all you needed for pixel-perfect positioning.

Nice ... you're an old-timer like me! Things are much better.

Anyway, to the point... Is being strictly a front-end person a viable path these days?

Yes, if you combine that with other skills like social media marketing, wordpress setup, hosting setup. But if you get into PHP you expand you possibilities.

And finally, what course or courses are recommended here to get back up and running? I'm still pretty familiar with HTML, at least the basics. Some things, like semantics and more advanced CSS stuff are a bit alien to me, so I'll need to learn about that.

Take my full stack course ... it will give you what you need:

My freelance course will help a lot as well:

  2. Hi,

Sorry for the delay. Sometimes you have to write code blindly .... as you go. It is important to write the code and see the errors, as it will train your brain. So just go through the process of working with the first few basic projects.

Be sure to watch the projects video on the home page, it tells you how to use the projects.

  3. Hi,

Step 1: Get the IP address you will be hosting the site on from your hosting company.

Step 2: Go to goDaddy and change the domain names DNS setting to point to the IP address.

Notes: GoDaddy might be handling the sites DNS settings ... or you may have to find out from goDaddy who is handling the sites DNS. DNS is short for Domain Name Server ... and it is the address book that tells the web WHICH server your site is being hosted on.

It's a lot to take in, but asking your new hosting company should give you the answers what you need to do do move the site.
