video gallery website - tutorials?

I am helping a friend in creating a video website, but as a self taught designer, I generally don't know what things are called, which makes it hard to search for tutorials. ;)

Two things we need the site to do:

#1: Have a row of images that are controlled by a vertical or horizontal (haven't decided yet) slider style listing. Ex:

http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/18QrMO/www.craftsy.com/ext/Stumble_Craftsy

This allows us to list a large number of items on a page, in a single area. It needs to be a scrolling system the site visitor can control, but more advanced than a simple, ugly scrollbar. ;)

In addition, when you click on the video, it needs to make a video appear, which comes to:

#2: Have a video play in a single area when you click on an image thumbnail. Doesn't matter what picture you click on, the video will load in the same spot every time (and also allow for text to be written around it). Ex: http://www.themansguidetolove.com/

Anyone know of any good tutorials on these, or even what you would call these things in order to search?

Thanks muchly!!
