daddyalfie Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Here's a quandary! I received an overseas telephone call from a person in Latvia. He is interested in buying a (digital) copy of a painting I have made that is displayed on my website. I can have the painting professionally scanned on to disk locally. How do I get paid? Should I insist on "money in hand" before proceeding? He seems to be a legitimate individual with a professional looking website. Are there such things as "International Money Orders"? I'm sure there must be some such! Any Ideas / inputs greatly appreciated! Alfie
ridemeup Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 you can use wire transfer but western union would be faster method to received money from any part of world. but i doubtful that buyer may not trust you to send money in advance as you don't trust him to send him product 1st. its very natural some time. so it will better you both find a reliable escrow service provider to deal this issue. thanks.
virtual Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 I have had payments on Paypal where the money was paid into the Paypal account but only released to the seller when the buyer received the merchandise and gave his OK, that was on Ebay, kind of like an escrow. However I have no idea how you would set that up for a one time purchase out of the Ebay program. Try and check out Paypal for this type of arrangement.
daddyalfie Posted November 8, 2010 Author Report Posted November 8, 2010 We are now trying the Pay Pal route. It is actually quite simple if you have an account. I have not yet heard back from the customer, but will post here if I have further information. Thanks for your thoughts! Alfie
