Thanks Eric, but that does not solve the problem for the lines of text that have 2 lines, right?
-
Can someone tell me how to vertically position the text inside my anchor buttons so that they sit centered?
Take a look so far...

I need the text in the blue buttons to be vertically centered.
Thanks

Ah, thanks very much - that was it!

Can anyone tell me why my background image is not showing up on this page. If you look at the other pages you will see a prominent background image in the sky but for some reason it is not showing up on the services page. The strange thing is, it shows up just fine when I preview the page from my local folder, but not once I have uploaded files to server. And yes, the image is definitely in the right location on the server and named correctly.
Take a look...

It should look like this (this is the jpeg mock up)...

Ah yes, thank you very much - it's always just a silly little thing isn't it?

Can anyone help me figure out why my div named "#indexThmbs" is not sitting flush to the div above it named "#indexHeader1"
The purple body background color is coming through and I dont know why. There are no top/bottom margins on either divs so there should be no gap between the divs...I have no clue why this is happening.
I have posted the links to how the page SHOULD look (my JPG mock up)....

...and also my HTML file with the problem I'm talking about....

Thanks in advance.

Yes I know, I just haven't uploaded my latest files to the server. Thanks

Perfect. Thanks Eric.

Thanks Wickham, I made your suggested adjustment but it dosnt seem to be working...take a look...

Thanks for your help guys, but I'm an absolute perfectionist and I need the nav to be perfect. There must be something to fix this problem.
Also, I did remove the main background image and put a left positioned background image on each li tag. However, this puts one on the far right (after the "contact" link) which I obviously don't want as the is not one on the far left (before the "home" link). In addition, this also makes the entire navigation look even more lob sided to the right.
Take a look...

I am trying to fix my navigation and am having problems doing so. It looks different in firefox to Safari to IE. Each time I think I have fixed it in one browser, it screws it up in another. The li buttons just dont seem to line up and center correctly even though all my CSS indicates (to me) that it should look just fine. You can view the site here...

Can anyone help me figure out how to adjust my CSS so that the navigation looks nice across all browsers?
Thanks
Kit

hmm, still no luck
-
Well, that's really why I am posting my problem - how DO you fix it?
-
I am trying to use the shortcut for "Preview in Safari" which in is set to "Cmd F12" in my browser list. However, when I press Cmd F12 in Dreamweaver, it just increases the speaker volume - of course, F12 is also the volume key on the new mac keyboards.
How do I make this shortcut key work on the new mac keyboards? I would really like to keep it on the F12 key as that is what I'm used to.
Thanks

When I Click on the "Preview in Firefox" button it opens a window in Firefox that displays a "File Not Found" message? When I select "Preview in Safari", it opens the document with no problem!
I have also opened files with Firefox manually outside of Dreamweaver with no probelm - but when I use the Preview in Firefox option in Dreamweaver I get the error message! Strange huh? Can anybody help resolve?
Thanks

Perfect! Let me know if there is any flickering on your end now...

Thanks for all your help

Ben/Eric,
FYI - I updated the HOME and ABOUT buttons with Ben's recommended fixes and they look good now.
Yes, you're right Eric, the three boxes in the middle have hover states - but for me only the far left box flickers - strange.
So, Ben are you now saying that your second to last post suggestions SHOULD work on fixing the flicker problem now?
-
Yes Ben! That worked a treat. Thanks for your help everyone!
-
Thanks, that pushed the text down, but now the hover state background image is too far down....man, this is confusing! See latest at same URL
-
Hmm, that helped, but for some reason I can't get the text to push down towards the bottom. I have tried adding top-padding to every tag but its not doing anything!! Sorry for my ignorance. I have re-uploaded the latest files. Do you know what's up?
-
Actually, scratch that. I do need different bg images for each button.
However, I'm trying to apply the same thing that worked for the thumbnail button to the main navigation, but I think I'm a bit confused as i'm not having the same success as with the thumbnail buttons.
I have uploaded my efforts so for...what am I doing wrong? (I only started working on the HOME button)
-
Ben, for the navigation buttons, what if I want to apply the class to the entire ul so that I don't have to add individual classes to each button in the navigation. I tried this but it didnt work...
#navWrapper ul a {
width: 62px;
background-image: url(../images/test.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: 0 0;
}
-
Thanks Ben. That's exactly what I was looking for - an alternative that helps me better achieve my goal. You the man!
-
Nothings wrong Thelma. I was simply asking if there is an alternative. The trouble with making it an image in the HTML is that I cant have a hover state, right?
