Google chrome frame

So why doesn't Microsoft do the same thing and produce a frame that uses the IE8 engine instead of the IE6 engine if there is a special meta tag?

I realise that if like Chrome, the IE6 user would have to download the frame to benefit, but it might be useful to IE6 users who for some reason don't want to upgrade to IE8 (inadequate PC performance).

I don't think the meta tag to use IE7 instead of IE8 in IE8 is the same because that is inbuilt into IE8.

Thats a good idea! Supposidly, the driving force behind Chrome Frame, is to make the web a better place. So, Chrome should have no problem with that. They made the code open source I think. Ie should adopt.
