G.A forum,
Another question from Brian......
I tested a page in IE, FF, Safari and Opera. All is dandy in the latter 3..but good 'ol IE - the animation will not play. It states an updated version of Flash is required. I have Flash 10 installed on my Computer (FF - Mozilla). Do I have to go into IE and download Flash 10 from that browser? Once again confused..
thank you

Thanks as well Newseed

Thanks for the insight. I only use dreamweaver for shortcuts and primarily for the design view to see the page while working (I code myself). I also viewed your reply to Wilder's Post in regards where to start.
Thanks Ben

Good afternoon K.S,
As you may or may not know - I am new to the world of design and development. As some of you may know - I may post simple or basic questions. I feel like I am running around in circles or trying to rush to quickly, and am looking for a little direction, and no better place to come for guidance than Killer Sites.
I started learning web design and development at the end of last year. I know basics of CSS , HTML and XHTML. I am self taught at W3 Schools for CSS, HTML and XHTML, and as we know there is much more to design and development than the above mentioned. I recently was given a great gift from my father: CS4 Web Premium . There are great tutorials on Adobe TV etc., and between that, K.S, Smashing Mag, Site Point, About.com etc, I am learning along the way. However, I jump from Flash (30 days of studying) to DW, to Photoshop, to design tips and go back and forth, and feel I have no direction at all. While schooling is probably the best bet, do you have a schedule, or recommended route to go? I hear that I should learn a new program every 90 days, does this seem right? What guidance support could you provide me with what to start on next, then after that etc.
As always, I thank each of you for your support and quick reputable answers. I promise, I will soon also assist in answering questions as opposed to always asking them.
On a last note - I am currently working a project (big) that I am expecting to be well known on the internet. I can assure you once launched, Killer Sites will be mentioned and linked (if ok from Stefan). I will also be more than happy to provide your websites (Moderators) as well. For what you guys have assisted me with through these tough times, I will definately want to put your names out there (I will have a seperate page for web design / development)
Thank you again!

Thank you! I am self taught through W3Schools and articles etc. It is a tough journey but I enjoy it. When I get frustrated - I find my self still in front of the computer pounding away. That is how and why (besides my artistic background) that I know this is the career for me.
Falken
I do not think I did. On Notepad - I would download and attach photos from my Photobucket acct. I did not do that this time.
Thanks again guys!

Sorry Eric - I did not use display: inline on my floated elements. You mention in direction of the float. So if I am floating left - and have a Margin-left of more than 0; I would use display: inline?
In FF and IE - (From DW view) both look fine. I emailed it so I can look over today at work - and 2 divisions (Music and Movies) is moved to the right of time (Should be below Statement)? Is this because it was emailed?
Also I have a fading color for the background. I made this bg from PS Cs4. The color is blue - when I pulled up my sent email to check the page - the background is white. I also have a fading color for headings - this is a solid blue color - not faded as hoped for?
In all my dillemma:
In Dreamweaver - the IE and FF screen shows the layout to be fine
I emailed it to look over at work. I check my sent email to pull it up and the Movies and Music div's are moved. Along with the background color white - not a fading blue color. Also my headings are a solid blue color - not faded.
as always thank you -

GE K.S,
Does anyone know of a good source or good way to add clocks? I would like to add clocks to a Homepage with different timezones.
thank you

they no longer have the transition with CS4. You will have to create a Motion tween and use the Alpha. You may also work with the Ease inside the Motion Editor. Make your your object is selected to work with the Motion Editor

Thank you LM. I will add the action on the layer also

I am trying to add a fade/wipe transition with 4 "boxes". The 4 boxes are set on the same layer (bad idea?). (I would like for this to be on my Home Page.)
The "boxes" are placed from L-R. I would like the 1st box to fade / wipe upwards - display "Plan" - then stop (not loop)
Box #2 - I would like to have fade / wipe upwards and display "Design" - then stop
Box #3 - I would like to fade / wipe upwards - display "Develope" - then stop
Box #4 - I would like to have fade / wipe upwards - display "Host" - then stop
I am adding a new layer above the transition Layer for each box so I can add AS: Stop ();
The final result:
I am getting a continuos loop and sometimes unable to get anything when I Test the movie - however if I Play - it shows.
Any assistance as always is greatly appreciated. If I am not making much sense - please clarify for me.
thanks

To create a transition you will want to do the following:
1) Place your object on the Stage and select your object
2) Then you will select Insert
3) Select Timeline Effects
4) Select Transform/Transition
5) Select Transition
6) Select your transition
Hope this helps

Hi Eric
I am new to Flash and web design all together. Unfortunately I can not add to the forum as the site is not up.
However - what I am doing is the following:
I am importing 3 images onto the Stage in Flash
I am placing them at the bottom of the stage
image2 image3 image3
I click on the 1st image - click on Insert - Click on Transform/Transition and Select Transition
(at this point I am able to select Fade or Wipe / or apply both options)
I repeat this for image 2 & 3
The effect this has is that it wipes the image from left to right - fading as the image closes
(I am attempting to actually have the 1st image wipe from left to right and fade into the next image as opposed to all 3 having the same effect at once. I know this will take some tweaking in the time line and the layers).
I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if I should clarify.
As always -
thank you

Good evening K.S.
I am trying to stack layers on top of each other in the Timeline. I insert a new layer, and they are not stacking up so I can change the frames for each one individually.
i.e. the layer just changes from layer 1 to layer 2, layer 3 and so on. There is only "1" layer showing in the time line, as opposed to all layers showing together vertically. How do I accomplish this?
As always - thank you
Brian
