I have got to be the biggest nuisance on K.S....
I am still un successful in downloading fonts. No matter which Font I attempt to download I am un successful. Here is what I am doing:
Downloading
Opening with WinRar
Extracting all to Fonts folder
I open up the file in Fonts folder and it shows the font in different pixel sizes (normal)
I open up Photoshop and the font is not in my drop down
I attempted to extract to the desktop - copy and paste into the fonts folder - but it states the file already exists - replace? (I say no)
Is it the type of file I am trying to open? My resource is well known Smashing Mag..
thanks

When I open it up - it is a page where it is showing the font in different font sizes -
-
Maybe that will work. When I open it up from the desktop it shows all the different font weights for that font - (like it shows from the page I downloaded from.).
thanks again Ben

Thanks Ben
The names list as follows:
Fontin_Sans_B_4 FACCCE8

Good evening K.S.
I know web safe is the best bet - however I am interested in downloading a couple of free fonts from resources at Smashing Mag. When downloading (for instance Fontin Sans) - I extract the winrar file to my desktop. When opened - it has a copy of all the fonts as seen on the page. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
As always - thank you

Just wanted to drop a post to say - I am so happy I finally jumped into this career and to again give Kudo's and thanks to the
K.S team. Not only for the challenges, but to be able to communicate through design on the World Wide Web is such a great career path. Just to let all other Newbies know that you have a great support cast here at Killer Sites. In this career you have so many other designers and developers behind you that are willing to help and offer tips, tricks amongst other helpful information and resources, that it almost seems like an extended family. Thanks to all of you who have assisted me in my growth and I wish the best of luck to all of you!

Are you properly adding the link.? Make sure you are adding ..// to move up to the folder which you are linking

You are better off learning code and hand coding your sites. I only use DW to view my code markup (Live Code) and to use the feature Live View to see my work as opposed to saving an HTML editor and going back and forth (Not only that - but can test in all browsers with a click of a button). IMO - honestly - it is quicker to hand code code in DW as opposed to copy, paste or insert this and that. Not only that - but have you seen the mess DW leaves in their coding (this comes the term What You See Is What You Get)
-
anytime - welcome to "THE" forum
-
If I remember correctly - Live View is "Read Only". This view shows what the browser will render and does not allow for element manipulation.
Live Code - this allows you to view all of your Mark up. Click on an element you wish to change and it will bring you directly to that elements HTML or CSS
Hope this helps

Like Ben stated - you will want to use Javascript or PHP. I also do not see that you used a
for the list -
Thanks for the link - I will head over to NetTuts as well. I will by all means jump on eventually, for the moment I want to just concentrate on learning design and typography...
-
Thanks Ben - it is good to know it is not necessary to jump on right away

Only noticed a couple new tags. Have'nt studied much on it yet as I am focusing on design at the moment. Has anybody jumped on this wagon yet, and have I overlooked anything regarding new changes?
-
Thanks Ben. I will check this when I get home. I am using CS4 also - and I indeed did forge to de select the path.

Check out Stefan's new JQuery video tutorials. IMO Stefan holds one of the best podcasts on the net.....

You may want to provide your code with these types of requests (can get a much quicker reply)

G.E everyone,
For some reason - when I use the rectangle tool - instead of going on the layer - it becomes a path? Where did I error? I was making selections earlier with the pen tool - and unlike before - (a shape would go on the new layer) - this is now not the case?
Still head scratching as always...
-
Thanks Eric - I have viewed them previously - thank you and thanks for the resources on your site

G.E Forum,
Does anyone have any good resources for PSD design? While learning the tricks of the trade on Lynda.com - it is fine and dandy learning the clone stamp, dodge tool and layers etc However - adding brightness or healing a scratched photo is not teaching me the tricks of building layouts in CS4. Besides PSDTUTS, WebDev, PSDTop, Tutorialized and VandelayDeisgn - does anyone have any other websites / resources they can lead me to for essential training on layouts and how to use the gradiants, filters etc properly for effective and beautiful aesthetics?
As always - thank you
