Hi

 

Can anyone help, i have been using killersites video complete wordpress, i installed MAMP from the folder that i received from them, i set up MAMP as instructed and then copied the wordpress folder into htdocs, then in the browser type htt://localhost/demosites/wordpress/wp-admin just like the video

said but it came up with this message

 

 

Not Found

The requested URL /demosites/wordpress/wp-admin was not found on this server.

Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) PHP/5.2.11 DAV/2 Server at localhost Port 80

 

does anyone know why?

You have to physically turn Mamp on, otherwise it will not work. Go to Applications - Mamp - MAMP and double click to open, then "Start Servers". You can then click on "open start page" to see if it works. It will probably ask you to enter your computer password. It is a good idea to drag Mamp to your dock, so that it is more easily accessible to turn off and on.

 

Also note that the following is missing the p from http://

htt://localhost/demosites/wordpress/wp-admin

 

It may be just a typo on the forum, but you never know.... B)

Also, make sure the path is correct. The path you use to connect may not be http://localhost/demosites/wordpress/wp-admin. For example, when I connect to localhost, I use http://localhost:8888. You can check this by running the MAMP application and clicking the "Open Start Page" button. Your browser will open, and you can see the URL that it uses.
