Trend of use of Smarty in MVC.

Hello Everyone.

I have a question and I hope you could help.

 

Do you still use Smarty with the MVC (Zend) websites for work (clients) projects or is Zend view and layout replacing it?

 

What is the trend now, and how does it look like for future?

 

I am aware that using Smarty is good when dealing with designers (so that they don't mess around with rest of the code much), but is it still a on top, or I should concentrate my learning/developing more on other approaches?

I love working with Smarty for front end development. Don't really like working with zend XML frameworks for FE dev.
