Alright I needs some help on this. been trying to figure this out for a couple months now and I'm a little close but still so far away. I've been in the graphic design business for a bit since junior year of highschool (im 22 now) and i havent really messed with web design alot but i want to now because it would make me a complete designer. I tend to do the design aspect of websites and have programmers do it but now i wanna cut those guys out and do it myself. Trying to learn how to do myspace pages (i can do images and graphics and all but im stuck on the coding and how everything shows up). Saw a page off of a guy called GrahamPhiser (he even has a website) and if you look at his myspace i've pretty much been look at the source code but still have no idea what i needa do to get that format. Need help learning some css and his source says he uses javascript but i thought javascript wasnt allowed on myspace. anways, can someone helps me? thanks.

If you want to learn web design, start here: http://www.killersites.com/web-design/ or these two places: http://www.css-tricks.com or http://www.nettuts.com.

Although MySpace does technically use HTML, it really isn't the ideal place to learn it -- the code that is required to style a MySpace profile is a complete mess, even for someone who has been working in the web design field for a while, and will probably only end up confusing you. I'd suggest starting with some of the basics, and come back to creating myspace pages once you have a basic understanding of HTML and CSS. Then, take a look at some of the free MySpace templates that are online, figure out how they work, and then work on creating your own.

I learned to manipulate div overlays by downloading a free template then changing things to see what was effected. I found it easier to grab a freebie then change it up as I went.

I will add that I no longer do this because MySpace changes their code so much it was a full time job fixing broken code every other month.

But, when I did I found the following blog to be very helpful.
