Transitioning from Web Development to Data Science

Hello

I’ve been working as a web developer for the past 3 years; primarily focusing on front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Recently, I’ve developed an interest in data science and machine learning and am considering a career shift. I’d love to hear from anyone who has made a similar transition. What skills should I prioritize learning & how do I position myself for opportunities in this field without starting from scratch?

I’m currently exploring Python and libraries like Pandas and TensorFlow but I’m unsure if this is the best route or if there’s a more structured path I should follow.  Also, would it be better to gain experience with small freelance projects first or jump straight into full-time job applications? I have chcked https://www.killersites.com/community/index.php?/forum/80-career-questions-asked-and-answered-Minitab guide fo reference but still need advice. 

Any advice or insights on how to smoothly transition into data science while leveraging my web development background would be greatly appreciated!
