FreeBenzine Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Hello, I used http://www.csstutorial.net/2010/02/how-to-create-a-center-aligned-page-with-css/ to align my webpages to the centre. It works fine with Firefox and Chrome, but does not work with IE. Any tips will be highly appreciated. Cheers, Tim
newseed Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Check to make sure you have a DocType to the top of your page.
FreeBenzine Posted August 12, 2010 Author Report Posted August 12, 2010 I am using IE ver 8. 'Check to make sure you have a DocType to the top of your page.' was not really clear. Cheers
falkencreative Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Take a look at http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_DOCTYPE.asp The common ones are HTML4 strict and XHTML strict. Most people seem to use HTML4 strict -- XHTML is being phased out in favor of HTML5 (eventually, at least.)
Andrea Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Make sure your document starts out with this: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> .... </head> <body> .... If it already does and things still aren't working for you, either give us the link to where your page is or paste the code here - ENTIRE html and css.
FreeBenzine Posted August 13, 2010 Author Report Posted August 13, 2010 Hi, the problem is solved now. I forgot really to start with the DOC type. You guys are really great. Thanks once again.
