J. Butler Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 I have been trying to learn the basics of web page design from your videos. I have reviewed the # 2 video. I double click the index.html and then open the index.txt and see them together on the screen. In the video you make a change in the index.txt and hit File-Save and then refresh on the web page and the change appears. One mine, when I make the same changed in the index. txt and I hit the refresh button on the web page, there is no change. What am I doing wrong? JMB
falkencreative Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 You need to be working with one file -- index.html. You shouldn't have a .txt version as well. You should have index.html open in your text editor (if you double click the file and it opens in a web browser, right click on the file, select "Open with" and choose the program you want to open the file with) and index.html open in your web browser as well. That will allow you to make changes to the file in your text editor and see those changes when you refresh the page in your web browser.
J. Butler Posted July 21, 2010 Author Report Posted July 21, 2010 Thank you Benjamin: It is exactly the advice I needed. JMB
