administrator Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Hi, I use both Mac and PC, and each has their strengths and weaknesses. Overall though, as of now, Mac is the superior OS in general. Why? Some bullet points: Hardware just works - no stupid drivers to install. Mac OS is more stable. Mac OS is nicer to look at. You can kill process with Mac OS with no fuss. That all said, there is still one thing that bothers me about the Mac: the mousing. Yes, Mac mousing sucks. The Mac mouse action seems somehow, just a little off ... slow, like moving your pointer through mud. Whereas with all its' faults, Windows mouse action is slick .. it just glides about the screen without effort. These days, I use Mac 95% of the time, but when I do go back to my old XP machine, I still feel more at home with PC mousing. Stefan
falkencreative Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 You realize you can change the speed of your mouse pointer, right? Under System Preferences > Touchpad > Tracking Speed. (Or, I'm assuming, if you have an external mouse connected, System Preferences > Mouse > Tracking Speed) I usually move the slider up almost all the way to "fast" -- I agree, I find it slow otherwise.
administrator Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 Yes, I've tried tweaking the mouse speed on the Mac, I even installed a 3rd party mouse application ... still no luck. S
newseed Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Just put some cheese in front of the mouse and move it to where you want to go! That should speed it up!
BeeDev Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Are you comparing Windows XP to the latest Mac OS ? That's not fair you know
administrator Posted July 1, 2010 Author Report Posted July 1, 2010 Are you comparing Windows XP to the latest Mac OS ? That's not fair you know True, Windows 7 is far superior to XP and much closer to Mac OSX is many respects. Nonetheless, I still prefer Mac OS overall at this time. ... Except for the mousing. That said, I am actually very interested in the new Google OS (Chrome) because I am largely an advocate of cloud computing. But then again, I doubt the 'cloud' will allow for video editing in a serious way anytime soon. But web design and programming - no problem. ... But, I may be wrong about that. Stefan
newseed Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 (edited) Are you comparing Windows XP to the latest Mac OS ? That's not fair you know What? What? Was I comparing XP to Mac? Nooooooo!! I was only suggesting how he can speed up that little mouse of his! @Stef: Google has an OS? Wow! That's the first of heard of that. I wonder if they have a good bench test to compare it with the other OS's? I also wonder about software programs? Maybe I will Google this. Edited July 1, 2010 by newseed
administrator Posted July 1, 2010 Author Report Posted July 1, 2010 Yep, Google is good for googling. S
