Fixed Menu

Recommended Posts

Several months ago I downloaded a free template for a website, and then promptly forgot about it. I then remembered that it had a feature that I like and wondered how it was done. In the attached image you can see a menu on the left that stays fixed as the window scrolls. I would like to learn how to do this so I am asking for help to research this.

Thanks!

Have you looked at the source? That usually tells you what's going on.

position: fixed; is probably your solution.

It generates an absolutely positioned element, positioned relative to the browser window. The element's position is specified with the "left", "top", "right", and "bottom" properties.

Just give it position fixed with no left/right/top/bottom. It will position from where it lies in the html. Use margins to place it. Otherwise you have to wrap it in a AP container and position it off that.
