nycNick
Howdy yall, 1) I wonder what you all think is the best example of a free multi-tiered dropdown css-based nav in terms of compatibility that's out there (to be interesting lets say it needs background images=sized block)? b. Add also if you want, why css instead of javascript for nav menus, in terms of degradation. 2) Is there a good sniffer & media -info resource, out there you've seen? Thanks, N
falkencreative
To answer your nav questions... The best menu system I've found is the Suckerfish menu (http://htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/) which is CSS based, so it should work on all standard based browsers, and with a little javascript works on IE6 as well. The main advantage of CSS based menus, in my mind, is that they should work on all browsers except IE6 even if javascript is turned off, and are based on standards compliant code. Since everything is based on unordered lists, it is pretty easy to style. My personal choice for menus is called Superfish -- it's a jquery plugin that adds some minor visual effects to the Suckerfish menu. http://users.tpg.com.au/j_birch/plugins/superfish/
nycNick
I saw that a while ago, but am very glad to know the js includes ie 6. I've always wanted to use a totally css menu. Thanks Falken. This is testimony to your assertion (though from a different perspective) : http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&extid=1858527
