What's the link for your request on their forums? Looks like you can get support from the author here: http://green-beast.com/blog/?p=346 .

If needed, are you open to using a different contact form plugin? I can recommend some good ones.

Edit to add: I saw this on the author's support page:

Support Update: Header not recognized with the WordPress version 2.0WP plugin? Did you unzip the zip file first? If not, do that then upload the wp-gbcf folder into your plugins directory.

Thank you for all of your help.

my thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/345871

I don't understand your directions to unzip the plugin first. On my dashboard for uploading plugins it explicitly says to upload in zip format.

I tried unzipping first -- but then their uploader would only take one file at a time -- which seems will fail.

I don't think Wordpress recognized files uploaded through ftp.

If you have other contact forms to suggest, I am open to them. I would like a form which is easily customizeable.

It would be nice if I can format it.

This one also says it informs you where the visitor came from (which I don't have to have - but it sounds nice)

Okay, I just installed this plugin on my website and it's working fine. You had linked to this page: http://green-beast.com/gbcf-v3/ . If you are trying to install that one, it won't work because it's not the WordPress version. What you actually need for WordPress is this one: http://green-beast.com/blog/?page_id=136 .

Give that a try and if it doesn't work, let me know. I can help you with it.

I'm afraid I don't understand. The zip file that I download, I cannot open up. All I can do is either upload it totally (through the dashboard) or unzip it on my computer.

If I unzip it on my computer, I find the following files:

wp-gbcf_themes

index.php

wp-gbcf_focus.js

wp-gbcf_form.php

wp-gbcf_help.php

What program are you using to unzip the package?

This is what I have:

wp-gbcf_zip

- wp-gbcf

--wp-gbcf_themes

--index.php

--wp-gbcf_focus.js

--wp-gbcf_form.php

--wp-gbcf_help.php

- wp-gbcf_readme

I uploaded the wp-gbcf folder which contains all those individual files.

Well, as the saying goes: "If all else fails...read the instructions."

So I see there is a text readme file with the unzipped file. So I read it.

It says to upload /wp-gbcf/ using an ftp program.

So I uploaded the unzipped file.

It then says to change the permissions on the /wp-gbcf_themes/ file.

I fail to find this file on my server. (I see it on my computer)

I found a file titled: Themes

I changed the permissions on that file to 666

But as I expected, when I go to my dashboard -- the plugin doesn't show. My experience with Wordpress is it only recognizes plugins and themes that are uploaded through the dashboard - not through an ftp program.:o

I've used FTP for most of my plugins. Only recently have I used the dashboard to install plugins.

You shouldn't need to change the permissions on the folder. Which host are you using?

I replied to your email. If you send me the info I requested, I can install this for you.

It worked! I had uploaded it to content and not plugins. (I selected plugins but didn't enter into plugins in my FTP .

So I moved the file to plugins and changed the permissions to 666.

I was able to activate it!

Thank you for all of your guidance and patience!

I was able to configure the plugin.

I am getting stuck on some of the later steps:

6. Once configured as much as you can, go to the "Write" page (link on the

top menu) and click the "Write Page" link on the sub-menu. If using a

default page template give it a name like "Contact Us" for example.

Does this just mean: create a regular page to home your website form?

7. Now go back to the "Configuration" page and add the URL of your newly-created

form page. "Save" your changes.

8. Now go to "Manage" (link on the top menu) and click on "Edit Pages"

(link on the sub-menu). Then locate your contact page an click on the "Edit"

link to the right of it.

I don't find "Manage" anywhere.

Write and Manage are from the older versions of WordPress. To create a new page, just go to Pages > Add New. Name it whatever you want the page to be called where your form will be. And yes, step 6 is basically telling you to create a regular page.

Let's say you name your new page "contact". The URL you'll need to add in step 7 is yoursite.com/contact.

For step 8, just go to Pages > Edit > and then click on the name of the page where you're putting your contact form.

After all this work, I was disappointed with this plugin and the form.

I need to be able to customize my form: to add more text boxes with various labels. I didn't find any way to do this with this plugin.

But, I did a Google search for contact forms in general (not for Wordpress). And I found a great website with free forms and so easy to customize. And the form looks so nice! And all for free:

http://www.creatingonline.com/webmaster/emailforms.htm

After you develop your form they give you the code and you copy and paste into your web page. You actually see the form as you design it. So user friendly.

Thank you for all of your assistance.
