Menu Issue

I took over this project in which a template was purchased but the client has a few issues that I am unable track down.

First, in IE, hover over the top main menu nav. A dropdown appears. In IE7 and 8 I find that the menu flickers when you move from one sub-item to the next. This seems to occur off and on.

 

Secondly, if you hover over any of the dropdown nav and then move away from it and then move your mouse over to the product image below. Does it disappear? If it does, just click anywhere on the screen and it will come back. Again, I am unable to narrow down what the cause it.

 

Be aware that the CSS code is very heavy and overused. Nearly 4000 lines of code. This template was meant for another shopping cart and so a good chunk of the code are now redundant but I am not allowed to remove them. *sigh*

I didn't get the flicker in IE7 (and remember I am in the UK which means a lot of hops and my bandwidth is massaged down now in the evening at 19.47) so I don't think it's a severe problem. The drop down menus appeared quickly but the hover image on the top level which is slightly bigger was a bit slower but this hardly matters as you are looking at the dropdown menu.

 

I couldn't get the products image to disappear when moving the mouse off the drop down menu and then over the products image.

 

Edit: I know what happens now. The top level hover image comes and goes as you move the mouse down the drop down menu from one link to the next. It disappears as the mouse is in between one link and the next. Is there a space of padding or something between the drop down items?
