Hi!

I'm very new to webdesigning. I have no knowledge of web designing or development but I do know some of the basic html and I learn about web designing through blogger. I used blogger to create my website selling handmade jewelries. The amount of information and knowledge with regards to this is pretty intimidating. So, I'm just going to do this one baby step at a time. Well, of course I could hire someone to do it but I simply can't afford one!

Anyway, my site is still hosted by blogger. Was wondering if it is possible to create a welcome page in blogger? You know, the enter site thingy? I understand that this would require creating a graphic in Photoshop, slicing it and then coding them, am I right?

I'm ok with the creating graphics part but it is the slicing and coding part that I'm totally lost. I search online and found many suggestion like ImageReady, Dreamweaver and some even say that it can be done in Photoshop. Is there a tutoril that I can go to?

Also, how would that page then be added to the site? Or is it even possible to begin with?

I don't think a "welcome page" in Blogger is possible -- at least, not easily. If you have a separate domain/hosting, however, you may be able to post a page to your hosting, and then redirect to your blogger site.

Yes, the design of the page would probably need to be created in some sort of graphics program (Photoshop is industry standard, but there are free/low cost alternatives that could do what you want) and then coded in Dreamweaver or some sort of text editor. CSS Tricks (http://css-tricks.com/video-screencasts/) has a couple videos down at the bottom of the page that demonstrates the process you'd probably need to follow.

These two videos may also help informing you of the process involved (though obviously it won't necessarily fit with your specific case):

That said, hopefully this "welcome" page is more than simply a splash page, and will actually include information that will be useful to a visitor. In most cases, the regular members here discourage the use of splash pages (pages that simply include a graphic and some sort of "click here to enter the website" button), since it tends to look unprofessional, and adds an extra unnecessary step to get into your website that may frustrate visitors.

As you have mentioned that you are on Blogger platform, so here's a tutorial to add a welcome page to your blog, using some css and javascript:
