  1. Thanks for the info and did discover that the .txt was hiding. Fixed that and found a few errors but did not get the css working until watching the turotial at the killersites university and it dawned in my apparently foggy brain that the symbols looked more like brackets than parenthesis deals Maybe some reading glasses will be a good idea... Once all the css parenthesis I had in the file were changed to the squiggly bracket things, all of the css started to work. WahLahahahahah. Moving along again.
  2. Actually I should have written notepad but the info applies that you have given. I wondered about the different ways of getting to the editing file in wordpad and notepad. Now the CSS page I have created in wordpad does not seem to be doing exactly as the page in the tutorial is doing. Some of the things are happening but others are not like for instance when changing the color from blue to red it stays blue, and or the text width commands do not seem to be taking effect after the changes and saving of the info on updated word. Also the mouse over popups are not seen.... Can notepad instead of wordpad be used fo the css file? Seems like communication issue with the css.text file somehow yet all the code seems to check out with the tutorial. Maybe the text file is save as .txt or something the browser can't quite see?? Maybe will go back an redo the page using the explorer tree, as I remember using the win 7 dropdown under file to select the edit function. Also making sure there is only one copy open of a file being edited as well. With two copies of the same file open the save function onl upates one of the files so if not watching or noticing the screw up the wrong file that was not updated can get back in the folder somehow causing problems. Seems like it would be easier with out all the changing systems etc in the browser development, developer software etc but it is somthing that will have to be dealt with so better learn now rather than later. For now trying to build up an learn the basics like Stefan says and then can add in or take out to reinforce and learn more.
  3. Solved this one. Just a lot of condusion mostly in my won brain/mind programming but it finally kicked in! Found an error in the meta after charset was a dash instead of an = sign and also found the down links use file names and the up links the ../. new personal memroy jog is filename/ down,../up. Everything seems to be working now so ready for the next battle with the CSS. Thanks if anyone was able to make any sense out of the post and would have helped if able. Luv ya, David
  4. Should i use IE 8 dropdown list to edit in wordpad? Is it any different than clicking the file at its location? Two files of index.html were open an when checking, one was updating with the changes and the other staying the same. The links were all working until the levels began and now getting IE can not display on the different level pages. Do I need to change te browser (IE 8 and win7) settings. Befuddled yet still hacking away hoping to find the fixes.
