  1. Hi There I am currently in the process of designing an html responsive website for a client. They wish to have their social media profiles: Instagram and Twitter floating on the left or right of their webpage. Can anyone advise how best I can apply this in the html site that I am busy with. I have tried AddThis and ShareThis but so far it is not applicable. If anyone has a simpler solution, it would be most appreciative. Thank You
  2. Hi There I am hoping to get some valuable input from CMS specialists here before I make any further decision. I have an enquiry from a client who would like a website to function as http://www.thehubsa.co.za and I have already scouted a few options. I plan to quote client on Kunena Forum and compatible joomla template. Community Builder for User Management. My concern: Is there anything you can recommend for Classified Ads section of the website? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards Zarina
  3. I have tried your technique explained but still get stuck. Do you think you would be able to point me to a tutorial on how to make this work?
  4. In the site build using Dreamweaver, I would like to make the logo responsive. I have two logos: LOGO.png (for tablet device and desktop) and mobilelogo.png (for smaller devices-phone) Could any of you kindly advise me how to specify the correct css for when a mobile phone views the website. 5. Good Day I am stuck on a query that has really bowled me over. I have a few products listed on Virtue Mart platform and I have two groups namely: Wholesale and Retail. How can I have the same product but two rates i.e. one for wholesale and the other for retail? Can anyone advise me in a good direction, where to start. Thank You
  6. Recently a Joomla website of mine was hacked it was restored by the webhost, however I am struggling to access the backend of the website. I think the Super Administrator details was modified. I am trying to change a Registered User to Super Administrator inside PhpMyadmin but when I log into Joomla website with the Registered User then it does not show the full backend. How can I change a user from Registered to Super Administrator.
  7. A friend of mine has approached me in assisting him to launch his website for him after he was unsuccessful in getting his product launched elsewhere. I can only assist him in either making a Wordpress/Joomla website but the main area of concern is that Joomla does not have any viable extension with WSDL/Soap Capabilities. I found that Wordpress has a plugin for this. The purpose of the website is for users to register and submit their data [for mobile web app display] via the website upon registration. The Backend of the website [where all data submitted/stored will be sent to the mobile application. Is there anyone that can assist in integrating the website with the data submitted. My friend is willing to compensate for time spent. Assistance really appreciated.
  8. I have been developing websites since 2003 and only recently was approached to develop an e-commerce site. I have been hesitant on doing an ecommerce site. About 4 months ago I thought long and hard that if I want to elevate my vast knowledge of web developing then I should at least start learning the art of e-commerce. I started reading Magento e-book on the ipad, similar platform like Joomla but a Joomla developer I know back home makes it sound much more hard. I started on a Wordpress Ecommerce Site for a close friend using the Woo Commerce plugin.
  9. I am currently building a Wordpress Blog for a Food Writer / Chef. She will most probably get high volumes of traffic to her website in the near future. I usually only setup entry-level social media and adwords for my clients, but in this case its far more crucial that it works. I am currently exploring a few options and would value any input from others that are experts in the field of "Making Money from a Website"
  10. I must be honest and I openly admit that I enjoy the web developing far more than Graphic Design. I run two jobs concurrently and the Web Design business is my baby! I am in a very unique position when it comes to the Web Design profession - predominantly controlled by the male folk in our country. My Portfolio has grown over the past 15 years and I am very lucky if I get one website every two months. My portfolio speaks for itself and I have gotten high praise from satisfied clients. There has been a slump about three months ago where I had no work, but thankfully now I have guaranteed work up until December. There is the odd occasion that a client would demand updates, a client financially stable and would always negotiate a cheap rate for maintenance.
  11. Most recently I was approached by two clients both of whom were scammed to their last dollar by a website designer con artist. The first was a real estate agent that paid a company lots of money to design them a real estate property listing website. After a 4 month battle with their current website company, the dejected clients were referred to me by a mutual friend. I kinda feel sorry for them because they forked out so much money for a website that never materialized. I setup a meeting with them and pitched to them what I could do for them. They were immediately blown away at my proposal. The next came to price and I unfortunately had to give them a discounted rate because they had depleted all their funds with previous web company. All is good and their holding page is live Space To Let and the site to come in a month from now. The next client is my friend's girlfriend who sells costume jewellery, shoes, bags, beads, sunglasses etc. and she paid a female con artist $600 USD in three increments for an e-commerce (WooCommerce Wordpress) platform. All the con artist lady did was install Wordpress and a template. She did not load any products. The con artist women has tormented my client by turning vicious and hacking into email accounts, destroying websites. I, out of the goodness of my heart eventually had to accommodate them on such short notice. I am finding this a challenging task building my first WooCommerce Wordpress Template. So I would like to know: "Do you reduce your price to get new clients" or Do you take a loss if your price is not right!
  12. Hi Folks! I have been developing websites for about 16 years now but never ventured into the topic of making money off my websites. I recently built a wordpress website for a food blog writer. She asked me how she could make money from her blog and at that moment i was speechless. Is there anyone that can steer me in the right direction to get her started. I have already enlisted her site with Google Analytics and Google Adsense. I also read about Click Bank but am open to suggestions. Thank You
  13. Hi Folks I am busy with a new project for a client and I need some advice. I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CS4 but looking to upgrade and find a product that can help me find a solution. What I am wanting to achieve: I have a cellphone cover image that I took but I want to be able to add my own design (pattern) onto it. The finished item should reflect the sample image above. Are there any manipulation software or any adobe product that's able to do this. I am open to your suggestions. Thanks
  14. Hi Megana04 I was once a newbie just like you. I hope that I will be able to assist you along the way. I first started out designing Static HTML website, then went on to use Photoshop, CSS Coding into my websites and now I use all my knowledge when building and customizing a Joomla Content Management Website template. Regards
  15. Hi Folks! my work can be seen on www.nebuladesigns.co.za

  16. My Joomla website is not accessible via livehost. I had to rebuild the website on localhost. After building my site in localhost, I had to upgrade my XAMPP as the PHP version was 4.XXX and now I have the latest one. I tried to move the htdocs and mysql folders to inside the xampp directory again but for some reason I cannot access the site. I am getting some weird code errors. I have made a clean install on the live server and slowly rebuilding the website again. I am wanting to know if there is a way for me to retrieve the article content only [ the text ] inside the MYSQL database through MyPHPAdmin - please anyone can you assist? Kind Regards
  17. Hi There I designed a website in Joomla. My site appears fine in Mozilla Firefox but it does not appear correct in Internet Explorer. The majority of the users use Internet Explorer to view the website and some of them are not that computer savvy to use another browser. I have come across an answer to fix this. To prevent IE from entering Quirks Mode, replace the and statements at the top of the template's index file with: $iso = split( '=', _ISO ); $Browser_Type = strtok($HTTP_USER_AGENT, "/"); $doc_type = ""; if (ereg( "MSIE", $HTTP_USER_AGENT)) { echo $doc_type; echo ''; $browtype = "You are using IE"; } else { echo ''; echo $doc_type; $browtype = "You are not using IE"; } ?> CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE WHERE IN MY INDEX PHP do I place this. Kind Regards
  18. I experienced the same issue with my own website when I first upload it from localhost to Live Server. Offline it appeared fine but after the move it appeared as if it were missing the CSS styling. A few modifications in the config.php file did the trick with some assistance from the technical gal at the webhost company.
  19. Hi There Folks After almost a year in struggling with Joomla CMS, the only part that was confusing for me was the MENU part. But after months of frustration, I finally got it right. Thankfully I have had 3 new clients in one month for CMS websites. I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to go back to Dreamweaver and HTML website designing again. Its far too time consuming. I enjoy what I do and Joomla CMS will make it even more fun. I have one problem though. I recently converted my own website from HTML to CMS. I had the webhost assist me in fixing the nitty gritty and getting my site to appear correctly online. I did however notice that all my pages points to the write URL except for the home page (DEFAULT). How and where do I go to change the URL setting for this page. Appreciate any assistance!

I now know the anatomy of a php script which is almost like HTML code with the advantage of /* Comments */ Lovely.
