Posted by A.Chana on April, 2009 T-Pain’s Father Blasts Akon Over Business Practices Shaheed Najm, father and former manager of superstar artist T-Pain, is lashing out at Akon for allegedly creating a permanent emotional and financial rift with his son. In an interview with Ozone magazine, Najm details the entire situation, which reportedly began during T-Pain’s negotiations to sign with Akon’s Konvict Music.
According to Najm, his services as his son’s manager were lost after Akon and his brother Bu spread lies to T-Pain behind his back.
“Unknown to me, they were having different discussions behind the scenes. Akon had my son signing papers without contacting me, knowing that I’m his manager,” Najm stated. “[Akon and Bu] spread rumors that I’m on crack. Most folks don’t know this, but I’m on a waiting list for a heart transplant. I’ve had a triple bypass and a stroke since dealing with the Nappy Headz. For them to disgrace me like this and treat me like a bad daddy – that’s why I’m fighting back. I’ve let a lot of things go without commenting out of respect for my son. And I didn’t sue to get my money because that’s my child. I love him more than I love money.”
What damaged Najm’s relationship with his son the most was a 2005 interview where T-Pain alleged his father requested a $250,000 payoff for his earlier management services.
While he admits to requesting money, Najm clarifies that the amount was greatly exaggerated.
“T-Pain said in an interview that I so-called blackmailed him for$250,000. I am the first black male in the damn family,” Najm fumed. “I am the original black male. (laughs). But I never tried to blackmail him for $250.000. That’s a goddamn lie. I’ve never asked him for $250,000 to pay my bills. I asked him to give me and his mother one show per month and let us split the proceeds. At the time he was only making $20,000 a show. One show a month. He was doing a whole bunch of shows. That’s nothing big to ask for. I’ve never asked for $250,000 and I really don’t appreciate being lied on. I’ve heard all kinds of stuff, but when you challenge me as a man and as a father, I hate that with a passion.”
Najm still professes to love his son deeply, and to end any hostilities has chosen to keep out of his son’s professional career.
Regarding Akon, he states their animosity has not subsided.
“Akon and Bu are nasty ass n*ggas. They’re supposed to be Muslims but there’s nothing Islamic about what they did to my family,” he stated. “I’ll slap the s**t out of Akon. He’s a thieving, un-Islamic, back-stabbing p***y. Put that in the book. I’m hotheaded enough to tell him that to his face…Now when [T-Pain] comes to town, I graciously honor him for his accomplishments and keep my old ass at home.”
At press time, T-Pain nor Akon could be reached for comment.
Back To The Top ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MMA Fighter Challenges Chris Brown Mixed Martial Artist Din Thomas knocked Gabe Lemley out on Saturday night and then offered his fighting services to Rihanna as well. Thomas fought on the under card of March Badness, a PPV fight that featured Roy Jones, Jr. in Pensacola, Florida. After his victory over Lemley, Thomas called out Chris Brown.
"It's not cool to put your hands on a woman," Thomas said from the ring. "So Rhianna, if you want someone to kick his a**, holler at me."
Thomas, a native of Wilmington, Delaware, knocked out his opponent with a vicious knee to the face.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship competitor is a featherweight that weighs about 145 when he is actively training. He is also renown for his knockout power and his black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
In related news, R&B singer/actor Tyrese has revealed that Chris Brown is experiencing stress from the pressures surrounding the Rihanna case.
"Although he appears to be really strong through all of this, it's really taking a toll on his spirit," Tyrese stated in an interview with People.com on Sunday. "People like me and Puff [Diddy], we're just trying to show him love and keep his spirits up while he's going through all of the heat, and there are a lot people doing the same for Rihanna."
Brown faces arraignment on April 6 on felony assault charges and making criminal threats from an alleged attack against Rihanna on February 8.
"It's really hard for him to focus right now on his music, even though he really wants to," Gibson continued. "At the end of the day, I'm not trying to justify it because wrong is wrong, but unfortunately, us as entertainers, we have to grow up onstage with a lot of people looking at us."
Back To The Top ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eminem, Dre and 50 Cent Shoot New Video In Las Vegas Hip-Hop's most popular trio are preparing for a full fledged return to the rap game.
Rappers Eminem and 50 Cent, along with producer/rapper Dr. Dre, shot a video for the first single from Em's upcoming album The Relapse.
The trio shot scenes for the video inside of The Palms Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Representatives for Interscope remained mum about the title for the first official single from Eminem's highly anticipated album, his first in four years.
Reps did confirm that the video would hit airwaves and the Internet on April 7.
Additionally, Eminem who has sold over 75,000,000 records, has announced a follow-up album, The Relapse 2, will hit stores before the end of 2009.
"A lot of people we're expecting Relapse to drop last year," Eminem said in a statement. "I was one of them. Then Dre and I went back in the studio in September for a few days, and that turned out to be six months. We were on such a roll; we wound up with a ton of new music produced by Dre. Putting out Relapse 2 will let everyone get all of the best stuff."
The first single from Eminem's album The Relapse was "Crack The Bottle," which shot to #1 in iTunes' charts, with over 415,000 downloads the first week.
The Relapse is due in stores May 19 on Interscope / Aftermath / Shady.
Back To The Top ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 50 Cent Loses Expendables Role, Replaced By Terry Crews Barely three days after it was announced that he would be replacing Forest Whitaker in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming flick The Expendables, 50 Cent has now been replaced by actor Terry Crews. As reported earlier, 50 Cent landed the role after Whitaker dropped from the flick due to a scheduling conflict but according to AintItcool, Stallone's fan base reacted angrily to the action star picking the rapper.
Stallone has now decided to go with Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris, White Girls).
The Expendables revolves around a group of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator.
The movie is expected to begin filming this month. The film was written by Stallone and he will be also starring and directing.
The film boasts a cast of revered action stars including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Back To The Top ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kid Cudi Un-Retires Kid Cudi has changed his mind about retiring, a move that’s not surprising to his fans.
The artist explained his change at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
“I had my little ‘Spiderman II’/Peter Parker moment. You know, how Peter Parker didn’t want to be Spiderman no more, because his personal life was so f**ked up?” he said. “But, he was just killin’ s**t as Spiderman? I was killin’ s**t as Kid Cudi, but my personal life was just so f**ked up.”
The singer/rapper recognized his need to perform as well as his fans adoration of his talent.
“I understand that I need y’all and y’all need me,” he said. “So I can’t stop. No more retiring…I’m here to say. I don’t know what I was on.”
Last week, the rapper claimed he was retiring, citing the drama associated with the music industry had gotten too weighty.

Back To The Top ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kanye West - 808's & Heartbreaks
On September 11th, 2007 the Hip-Hop world received a shot of adrenaline when rap’s number one bully, 50 Cent went up against the most confident man in Hip-Hop, (or in the world for that matter) Kanye West—as they dueled it out for first week sales bragging rights. When the smoked cleared, Graduation took Curtis to school by a score of 957,000 to 691,000. But the celebration would be a short-lived one, because two months later in November, his mother Dr. Donda West would die due to complications of plastic surgery.
From that point, many doubted if he could cement a comeback, and return to his usual “Kanye” self. Those questions were quickly answered when he took home the Grammy award for best Hip-Hop album of the year that following February. Notorious for his award show antics, he called out the producers of the show on live television, and told them shut off the music, and to stop rushing him off the podium while he accepted the award on behalf of his mother with the word “Mama” shaved into 2his head.
"I would rate this album 5 stars *****, it's a wonderful album, greatly produced."
Back To The Top ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ryan Leslie
"First of all, I have been a R.Les fan for years now. Ever since I heard "Used 2 Be" and "Just Right" a few years back... I am glad to say that this album does not disappoint. He was ready to release it after "Diamond Girl", and then after "Addiction", but now he releases it after "How it was supposed to be" (which all 3 are solid hits in my opinion), and this album has more for you to love ("Gibberish", "Just Right", etc.) So, for all Ryan Leslie fans, this album was worth the wait, but was long overdue! And for anyone who is just starting to hear his music, then pick up this album! Check out his youtube channel to see clips of him creating these, and you'll have a better appreciation for what this man can do!"
