  1. Maybe you didn't understand what Ben meant, the Script sections must stay in the html file NOT in the css file.
  2. It's also what I call PC scare tactics... Go ahead and delete DW and the FileCure headache too.
  3. I presume you are on a PC, so you should be able to uninstall DW from Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. Usually it is only a shortcut that is on the desktop, not the full DW application, unless of course you changed the usual installation. I don't think you can delete DW from within itself, you could possibly try 2 things, locate the DW files from My computer - C drive, or desktop (if it really is installed there) and delete the folder and empty the trash. Or go to Programs - Windows Explorer - find DW and drag to trash then empty trash. Maybe my more experienced PC colleagues here can give you another solution.
  4. @Eric - Very funny , I'm guessing that tool is going to get a lot of use....

    New Guy

Hi and welcome to the forum
  6. It's not the beta version and I believe has been out for a month. So what is a decent time to wait while they iron out all the kinks and creases?
  7. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about a problem I recently encountered. Having been a fan of Firefox from the beginning I naturally updated to 3.6, having also heard (from Susie I believe) that it has a new feature which highlights errors in red when viewing in source code. OMG, the darn thing will not open any file locally either regular html files or .php through Mamp. To view your file you have to open up a new blank page and physically type in the address. So for someone who is constantly testing pages that is a big pain in the workflow. I checked on Firefox forums and it seems a lot of people have the same problem. It seems there is a bug causing it not to open files with spaces in the name...duh, but that does not resolve what seems to be everyone else's problem. I have now deleted it off the Mac and am reverting to 3.5.8 with which I had no problems. Here is the link to how to revert back in case anyone needs it. http://computersservicing.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-to-downgrade-from-firefox-36-to.html
  8. @Stefan You've seen banned for life or the same type of hidden keywords? Shoot I got the dreaded 180 second thing again.....and again.....I'll go and make a cup of tea and forget I even wrote this
  9. Absolutely Ben, just wasting time while I wait for the 180 second thing to go away....
  10. Well apparently from what I am told some of them have been doing it for years without negative impact. That surprises me, but what do I know??? Google are far from stupid. The "friend" was the one who provided the Word document with the hidden text, originally the file was .pages so I requested .doc or pdf and the "friend" who is a steam cleaner supplied the Word file as the pdf does not work....??? The font colour is black, the size is 1 px, I can't offhand remember the font itself but it was something I am not familiar with. It is invisible to the naked eye but if you do Com/Ctrl + A it highlights then just increasing the text size makes it visible.
  11. @Eric, no the client hasn't put anything on the site, he asked me to do it and I told him he would get banned by Google but if he absolutely insisted I would do it but would not take responsability for any consequences. However he needs more of an explanation about the why's and wherefore's and risks. Thanks for the input krillz. The client will do what I tell him, but I needed a better explanation of SEO and what he risks than the little I know about the subject. He tells me that a number of "friends" are doing it and getting away with it. Personally I would not take that risk and will advise against once again.
  12. A client of mine just sent me a Word document with apparently nothing in it. In fact it is filled with hidden keywords which have been reduced in size so as to appear invisible. He said a friend of his had put this on his site and shot to the top of the first page in Google, and of course he asked me to copy and paste the text onto his site. I replied that I would advise against doing this as he could get banned by Google. Have any of you come across this and would you advise against it?
  13. Just depends how you do things in Photoshop I guess...
  14. Pick the gradient tool on the top menu bar there are 4 different types - use the 2nd one radial gradient and set the foreground and background colours. Then click and drag from the middle to the edge - you might have to inverse the colours to get the lighter one in the middle. If you want a more subtle gradient, double click the coloured gradient in the top toolbar and you can add colours to it. If you need a tutorial Google - Photoshop radial gradient.
  15. If you have IE8 installed you have the capability to view in IE7. Just go to Tools - Developper Tools and change Browser Mode to IE7. You can even view in Quirks Mode. It's like Firebug you can mess around with the code.
  16. You could use an email encryption like this http://www.dynamicdrive.com/emailriddler/
  17. You will need to create a Photoshop action to do this. To create an action, open a file then go to Window - Actions. At the bottom of the Actions panel is a bar like in the Layers Panel. Click on Create New Action - 2nd Icon from the right next to the Trash can. Name your Action, then click Record. From then on everything you do to the open file will be recorded up until you Save As. When you are finished click the last button on the left (square) to stop recording. To use this action put all your files into a folder then go to File - Automate - Batch then select the action you have created, fill in the relevant folder information, where to find the files and where to save them to and then click OK. Sit back and let Photoshop do all the work. If each photo needs specific correcting of some sort or different image sizes this will not work. E.g. Vertical images vs Horizontal images - you would need to create a different action for each batch. That is it in a nutshell, for more info Google for Photoshop actions, there are lots of free ready made ones but you probably won't need those.
  18. Pure laine..? Or does that translate like dyed in the wool?
  19. Totally off topic, but are you 2 Mischooks related, seems like it...
  20. A while ago, I looked over a course at lynda dot com http://www.lynda.com/home/DisplayCourse.aspx?lpk2=209 that seemed quite promising. I just checked back on it and it was written in 2006, so it's probably totally out of date, but you might get some ideas from it.
  21. I cannot see your site as it is apparently under review. However, when you have different length columns the only way to get the background image to repeat all the way to the bottom regardless of the content in each column is to put the background image on the container that holds the 3 columns. So make one wide background image, doesn't have to be very high, that will encompass the backgrounds that you are probably now putting into each column, and repeat-y on the containing div.
  22. Yes it's fine now in both IE7 and 8
  23. I am not sure what exactly you want to do here as there is no content worth speaking of in the http://genec-lori.biz/ If I were you I would just keep one domain name and put all the content into that site. It doesn't look like your site gets a lot of traffic, so 3 domain names is overkill (good marketing ploy on Godaddy's end) Personally I would keep the .com Concentrate on just one, then lose Front Page, no-one uses that anymore and get a free template (Google for free templates) there are tons to choose from at no cost at all. Some with photo galleries, all you have to do is drop your content into them and perhaps tweak a little.
  24. Here are 2 which I bookmarked for future reference, don't know if they are exactly what you are looking for as I haven't tried them. Any particular reason for not using Flash, or is it iPad/iPhone related?? http://ma.tt/scripts/randomimage/ http://designm.ag/tutorials/image-rotator-css-jquery/
  25. OK I can see it now, you have a scroll bar in IE7 and the #filmstrip-bar is showing up over to the right instead of wrapping around the .subpages-cell. I have found a solution which works in IE7 and IE8, looks like it's good in Firefox too. Remove the following from #filmstrip-bar position: relative float: left left: 50% then remove from .subpages-cell position: relative
