  1. Hello, I am working on a website that has a search functionality. I am trying to search multiple tables and multiple fields from each table with 1 query. The 1 field that connects each table with each other is "account_num" can anybody help me create a query to search multiple tables at once and then return results for it? here: is my query...... $sql = "SELECT " . TABLE_USERS . ".account_num, " . TABLE_USERS . ".username, " . TABLE_PERSONAL . ".account_num, " . TABLE_PERSONAL . ".first_name, " . TABLE_PERSONAL . ".middle_initials, " . TABLE_PERSONAL . 2. nevermind, i got it to work by using the PHP copy() function. what i did was, 1.) Make a copy of the Uploaded Image (after it was moved into the directory) 2.) Copy it into my "thumbs/" directory 3.) Run A resize Image Function
  3. Hello everyone, I am working on a script and am having a little trouble with what i am looking to do. I have a form that works fine with uploading a profile picture but what i want to do is the following: 1.) Upload file to "avatar/" directory and upload the SAME file to "thumbs/" directory. I don't want the user to upload 2 times, I am currently using an uploader PHP class and it is working great for uploading however i'm a little confused about how to make it work how i want it to. I think it's not working because 1 file can't be moved to 2 directories after upload. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can achieve my goal? Thanks
  4. Great idea! i got it to work using the following: var count = 0; //the click count begins $('.morebutton').click(function(){ count = count +1; if(count % 2 === 0){ $('#wrap').css('height','200px'); } else{ $('#wrap').css('height','100%'); } $('.togglecontent').toggle('slow'); });
  5. hmm, can you show me an example?
  6. i'm running this code right now: $('.morebutton').click(function(){ $('#wrap').css('height','100%'); $('.togglecontent').toggle('slow'); }); But i need some way to change the css back to 200px; on the second click of the more button......any ideas?
  7. hello, i am working on a script that will show more information...... I can't figure out how to do on 2nd click function...... here is my code: $('.morebutton').click(function(){ $('#wrap').css('height','100%'); $('.togglecontent').toggle('slow', function(){ //this is even $('#wrap').css('height','200px'); }, function(){ //this is odd $('#wrap').css('height','200px'); }); }); What i am trying to do is make the "#wrap" go back to 200px; when the user clicks the ".morebutton" for the 2nd time. Any ideas on how to do this??

    PHP Cron Jobs

    Does anyone know if there is anyway to setup a cron job through PHP code? I made a web application that has an automatic installation feature. I want to know if i can set up the cron job through the installation instead of installing the app and then setting up the cron job manually through cPanel
  11. hello everyone, I am working on a script that uses PayPal IPN but i'm not sure about a few things. Here is my question...... If I have a website that uses PayPal for a monthly subscription, and the users payment fails....... does this automatically cancel the subscription? what if that subscription payment fails and then the user clicks on the subscribe button again? does this create another subscription, or does it automatically continue with the same subscription?
  12. That sounds like the best way to do things.... I didn't even think about doing this URL based but That actually sounds like the best solution for me Thanks for the idea.
  13. Hello, I have just developed a PHP web based Software. I have completed the entire application but now am thinking about selling it as a service. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I should validate it? For Example: I charge a monthly fee for this PHP web based application but I don't want to host it on my server. I want the User To Buy the script and install it on their hosting account but at the same time I need a way for the script to connect from their hosting account to the database on my host in order for me to check if the user registration code has paid for the service or not. Does anyone have any ideas on how I would go about doing this?
  14. she can try to sue you but i highly doubt that this case will be in her favor. there is no contractual agreement, so what is there to sue for? if you have done what you agreed to do in the emails and you did as you said, then you should be fine.
  15. I would just tell her straight up..... LEAVE ME ALONE, I DON'T WANT TO WORK WITH YOU! that should do it and NEVER do big projects without a contract! lol
  16. Don't let this get you down, sometimes we get clients from hell but that's when you have to use your knowledge as a developer to take the upper hand! If i were in your shoes, and i did all the work as agreed then i would remove all of the work from her host and tell her that she still has a remaining balance and the work will not be released until she takes care of the balance. If she doesn't like it then she can hire someone else to do the work or do it herself. the problem here is that you don't have any contracts which is very important in our field...... Always have a contract and Written Documentation from a client prior to beginning a project. So that if the client wants any changes that are not specified in their documentation then you will be able to charge extra for it.
  17. You shouldn't use your clients for references. In that case, you should have your own website portfolio and ONLY use client's that you have already dealt with in the passed and have had a successful relationship in your portfolio as images or links to their website. If your client is asking for a $2,000 refund you shouldn't even deal with her. This means that she doesn't value your hard work and dedication. Tell the client that you do not like to go back and forth with her and that she is being disrespectful so you do not wish to continue on this project. after that you should keep the ball rolling and move on with other projects.......... Only give her the final work if you feel like it. Don't feel forced to do anything, specially if the client wants your hard work after getting a refund or even asking for one.
  18. I've had a similar situation recently with one of my clients. The client owns a laundry service and wanted me to create a system in which his customers would be able to sign up, make deposits and he would control everything from the back-end such as the weight of the laundry, the pricing per pound etc. However I had a contractual agreement with this client and when i speak with all of my clients, i always tell them that our conversation via telephone will not be followed when developing the project. Please have written documentation in order for me to follow while developing the project as a guideline. The reason for this is for your protection, and for mine as well. On the contract, you must make sure that the rights to the project are completely yours until final payment, this is very important. You must also always create an FTP account in the client's cPanel, preferably without the client knowing. That being said, let me tell you my story..... I completed the project successfully in accordance to the client's documentation and the contract. I asked the client for final payment and he kept telling me that the project is no where near done. I told him to send me 1 email with all the changes needed and I will take care of the changes for him. He told me that he did not want to send me an email with changes because he didn't understand how to use the system. I told him that I am willing to create video tutorials for him explaining how to use everything and he said "I don't want Video Tutorials!" I also told him that he was the one that sketched out the design in an excel spreadsheet so he should already understand how to use it. Next thing i know, the client changed his Hosting Account Password on me and requested a $1,000 refund. PayPal put a hold on my account for $1,000 because of the client and it looked to me as if the client was trying to bail with the software! This is when i got upset and i called PayPal, told them the situation and the dispute was closed out in my favor so the hold was removed. Once i cleared this matter up, I logged into the FTP account that i created, without the client knowing and deleted the whole entire software off of his hosting account! I created a simple page that says: "Your Services have been Removed, Please Contact Developer" and then my email address underneath it. So you should always stay ahead of the game and you have to be an aggressive developer sometimes! Clients From Hell are usually the type that will try to outsmart you in anyway possible, there for as a developer you need to protect yourself and always keep your guard up. I am currently waiting for my attorney to take care of this matter, but i have all of the written documentation and the contract also says that the client will be responsible for legal fees. To make a long story short, Make sure you are 100% Protected no matter what! You never know when a client can turn on you! In your case, I would've moved on already and charging $2,000 for a 1 year project is giving away your work lol....raise the rates and always charge an additional fee for additional work! Good Luck with your Client and God Bless!
  19. I don't seem to be getting an error at all.... When i hard code the query everything seems to work perfectly fine. however, when i use variables in the query it doesn't work at all. maybe it's an issue with the paypal class? here is the class <?php /******************************************************************************* * PHP Paypal IPN Integration Class ******************************************************************************* * Author: Micah Carrick * Email: email@micahcarrick.com * Website: http://www.micahcarrick.com * * File: paypal.class.php * Version: 1.3.0 * Copyright: (c) 2005 - Micah Carrick * You are free to use, distribute, and modify this software * under the terms of the GNU General Public License. See the * included license.txt file. * ******************************************************************************* * VERION HISTORY: * v1.3.0 [10.10.2005] - Fixed it so that single quotes are handled the * right way rather than simple stripping them. This * was needed because the user could still put in * quotes. * * v1.2.1 [06.05.2005] - Fixed typo from previous fix * * v1.2.0 [05.31.2005] - Added the optional ability to remove all quotes * from the paypal posts. The IPN will come back * invalid sometimes when quotes are used in certian * fields. * * v1.1.0 [05.15.2005] - Revised the form output in the submit_paypal_post * method to allow non-javascript capable browsers * to provide a means of manual form submission. * * v1.0.0 [04.16.2005] - Initial Version * ******************************************************************************* * DESCRIPTION: * * NOTE: See www.micahcarrick.com for the most recent version of this class * along with any applicable sample files and other documentaion. * * This file provides a neat and simple method to interface with paypal and * The paypal Instant Payment Notification (IPN) interface. This file is * NOT intended to make the paypal integration "plug 'n' play". It still * requires the developer (that should be you) to understand the paypal * process and know the variables you want/need to pass to paypal to * achieve what you want. * * This class handles the submission of an order to paypal aswell as the * processing an Instant Payment Notification. * * This code is based on that of the php-toolkit from paypal. I've taken * the basic principals and put it in to a class so that it is a little * easier--at least for me--to use. The php-toolkit can be downloaded from * http://sourceforge.net/projects/paypal. * * To submit an order to paypal, have your order form POST to a file with: * * $p = new paypal_class; * $p->add_field('business', 'somebody@domain.com'); * $p->add_field('first_name', $_POST['first_name']); * ... (add all your fields in the same manor) * $p->submit_paypal_post(); * * To process an IPN, have your IPN processing file contain: * * $p = new paypal_class; * if ($p->validate_ipn()) { * ... (IPN is verified. Details are in the ipn_data() array) * } * * * In case you are new to paypal, here is some information to help you: * * 1. Download and read the Merchant User Manual and Integration Guide from * http://www.paypal.com/en_US/pdf/integration_guide.pdf. This gives * you all the information you need including the fields you can pass to * paypal (using add_field() with this class) aswell as all the fields * that are returned in an IPN post (stored in the ipn_data() array in * this class). It also diagrams the entire transaction process. * * 2. Create a "sandbox" account for a buyer and a seller. This is just * a test account(s) that allow you to test your site from both the * seller and buyer perspective. The instructions for this is available * at https://developer.paypal.com/ as well as a great forum where you * can ask all your paypal integration questions. Make sure you follow * all the directions in setting up a sandbox test environment, including * the addition of fake bank accounts and credit cards. * ******************************************************************************* */ class paypal_class { var $last_error; // holds the last error encountered var $ipn_log; // bool: log IPN results to text file? var $ipn_log_file; // filename of the IPN log var $ipn_response; // holds the IPN response from paypal var $ipn_data = array(); // array contains the POST values for IPN var $fields = array(); // array holds the fields to submit to paypal function paypal_class() { // initialization constructor. 20. i'm not getting an error message at all but i'm sure it's a query problem........ this is the code i am using <?php //declare vars $user_id = $_POST['user_id']; $current_bal = $_POST['current_bal']; $deposit_amount = $_POST['deposit_amount']; $current_bal + $deposit_amount = $final_bal; // Setup class require_once('paypal.class.php'); // include the class file $p = new paypal_class; // initiate an instance of the class $p->paypal_url = 'https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr'; // testing paypal url //$p->paypal_url = 'https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr'; // paypal url // setup a variable for this script (ie: 'http://www.micahcarrick.com/paypal.php') $this_script = 'http://'.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; // if there is not action variable, set the default action of 'process' if (empty($_GET['action'])) $_GET['action'] = 'process'; switch ($_GET['action']) { case 'process': // Process and order... // There should be no output at this point. To process the POST data, // the submit_paypal_post() function will output all the HTML tags which // contains a FORM which is submited instantaneously using the BODY onload // attribute. In other words, don't echo or printf anything when you're // going to be calling the submit_paypal_post() function. // This is where you would have your form validation and all that jazz. // You would take your POST vars and load them into the class like below, // only using the POST values instead of constant string expressions. // For example, after ensureing all the POST variables from your custom // order form are valid, you might have: // // $p->add_field('first_name', $_POST['first_name']); // $p->add_field('last_name', $_POST['last_name']); $p->add_field('business', 'info@affordablwebdev.com'); $p->add_field('return', $this_script.'?action=success'); $p->add_field('cancel_return', $this_script.'?action=cancel'); $p->add_field('notify_url', $this_script.'?action=ipn'); $p->add_field('item_name', 'HydePark Laundry Deposit for $' . $_POST['deposit_amount']); $p->add_field('user_id', $user_id); $p->add_field('amount', $_POST['deposit_amount']); $p->submit_paypal_post(); // submit the fields to paypal //$p->dump_fields(); // for debugging, output a table of all the fields break; case 'success': // Order was successful... // This is where you would probably want to thank the user for their order // or what have you. The order information at this point is in POST // variables. However, you don't want to "process" the order until you // get validation from the IPN. That's where you would have the code to // email an admin, update the database with payment status, activate a // membership, etc. echo '<script type="text/javascript">window.location = "http://www.hydeparklaundry.com/dashboard.php";</script>'; echo "<html><head><title>Success</title></head><body><h3>You Have successfully deposited " . $_POST['deposit_amount'] . "</h3>"; foreach ($_POST as $key => $value) { echo "$key: $value<br>"; } echo "</body></html>"; // You could also simply re-direct them to another page, or your own // order status page which presents the user with the status of their // order based on a database (which can be modified with the IPN code // below). break; case 'cancel': // Order was canceled... // The order was canceled before being completed. echo "<html><head><title>Canceled</title></head><body><h3>The order was canceled.</h3>"; echo "</body></html>"; break; case 'ipn': // Paypal is calling page for IPN validation... // It's important to remember that paypal calling this script. There // is no output here. This is where you validate the IPN data and if it's // valid, update your database to signify that the user has payed. If // you try and use an echo or printf function here it's not going to do you // a bit of good. This is on the "backend". That is why, by default, the // class logs all IPN data to a text file. if ($p->validate_ipn()) { // Payment has been recieved and IPN is verified. This is where you // update your database to activate or process the order, or setup // the database with the user's order details, email an administrator, // etc. You can access a slew of information via the ipn_data() array. // Check the paypal documentation for specifics on what information // is available in the IPN POST variables. Basically, all the POST vars // which paypal sends, which we send back for validation, are now stored // in the ipn_data() array. //Lets connect to db and Update the Database Mr. Abhin lol /*require("../config/config.inc.php"); require('../config/Database.singleton.php'); $db = Database::obtain(DB_SERVER, DB_USER, DB_PASS, DB_DATABASE); $db->connect();*/ $con = mysql_connect('localhost','hydepar5_admin','Hyde@Park1') or die("error connecting to db"); $sel = mysql_select_db('hydepar5_system'); $result = mysql_query("UPDATE customer SET balance='$final_bal' WHERE id='$user_id'") or die(mysql_error()); //$sql = mysql_query("UPDATE customer SET balance = '".$_POST['deposit_amount']."' 21. can someone please tell me what's wrong with my query? $result = mysql_query("UPDATE customer SET balance='$final_balance' WHERE id='$user_id'") or die(mysql_error()); it doesn't seem to work i have been trying to use this query on a paypal ipn script and it doesn't work, i'm not sure why. it works fine when i add the actual value inside instead of using variables
  22. after everything, i found my error. The problem was the query. $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM '".TABLE_FORMS."' WHERE form_field='".$block."'"); i needed to remove the single quotes before the table. the new and working query is: $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM ".TABLE_FORMS." WHERE form_field='".$block."'");
  23. i just put my code live instead of on my wamp server and now i get an error message: Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home1/moneypok/public_html/affordablewebdev/ContractGenerator/modules/form_fields/process.php on line 7 seems that my wamp has errors turned off
  24. it keeps returning: "num rows is NOT greater then 0" attached is an image of my table and i tried to query it like you said. Everything worked fine here is my code: <?php //if the add a client form is submitted then add client information to database. if($_GET['sm'] == "new_form_field" && $_GET['new'] == "yes"){ $block = mysql_real_escape_string(FIELD_PREFIX . $_POST['field_name']); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM '".TABLE_FORMS."' WHERE form_field='".$block."'"); $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($result); if ($num_rows > 0) { // do something echo 'num rows is greater than 0'; } else { // do something else echo 'num rows is NOT greater then 0'; } } ?>
