I strongly urge you to contact the host to see if they have a backup. Most will retain daily backups as far as 7 days back. Some maybe longer. So if was hacked just a couple of days ago then the chances are that you will be able to get them back up and running in a short time and that's if the host keeps adequate daily backups.

I don't think anyone here is seeing this issue. Can you provide a snapshot of what you are seeing?

index.htm -- just to block user's from viewing directory structure
newseed replied to a topic in Beginners Web Design
I would suggest that those sub index.htm pages that are really doing nothing but keeping people from accessing the image folders is that you just simply put no code in at all other than just the (i.e. no meta tags, doctype, etc.). If you are looking to block Google from these image folders itself then you can add a robot.txt file and define the folder you want to prevent search engine spiders from indexing. User-agent: * Disallow: /folder-name/ Disallow: /another-folder-name/ This may clear up many of the issues you are having. However, it will take some time for Google and other search engines to see that. -
I agree with Thelma about the load issue. Although it loads ok in IE (still a little slow), I had to refresh it in Firefox in order to get the background image to appear which is over 500kb. That's too heavy. You are trying to get the visual layout by making the entire page with images. You really need to take some basic html/css tutorials to help you achieve the visual design that you are looking for while minimizing the use of images and create fasting loading time plus more SEO friendly.

Need to adjust the file path because your css file is located in the root/nexx/ folder whereas your image is located in the root/images/ folder. So basically you have to tell the css to go back one folder and then find the image that is located in the /images/ folder. (../images/rightbackground.jpg)

Right column and table widths not consistent
newseed replied to SunnyOne99's topic in Beginners Web Design
You second table is giving you a false width which is why you should break that line of text I mentioned in my last post. Once you do that you will see the true width of 454px thus it's really not as wide as you like it to be. To get it to look wider you will need to increase that width. -
Right column and table widths not consistent
newseed replied to SunnyOne99's topic in Beginners Web Design
Your prolem is the third column table header. Common Symptoms/Onset* The line Symptoms/Onset* behaves like one word which widens your cell. Put a space on either side of the / to break the line. -
Define a nice discount? From what I have last heard is that it's $199 for the upgrade and $299 for the full version. I was able to get the upgrade for $99 (pre-buy special). I believe Newegg are having a special on Vista. I think the 32bit is a mere hundred bucks but that also comes with free upgrade of Windows 7.
-
I have not used it but, like you, I hear nothing but good things and most of those who said that are primarily either current XP users, current Vista users or XP users that reverted back from Vista. Even one Mac user was impressed. I have pre-ordered mine. According to Newegg.com, it set to release on 10/22. I will be loading this up on another partition (dual boot) to test it myself. If I don't like what I see I can always boot up to my XP.

I have mentioned in the old forum that the notice of the 'forum has been moved' was not clear enough. You need to really somehow make it so clear that a blind person can see it. As for people registering on the old forum, you might want to do a redirect when people click on the Register link having it link to a page on the new forum indicating that they have been redirected to the new forum plus provide them the new forum's register link.

I took over this project in which a template was purchased but the client has a few issues that I am unable track down. ht tp://sto re.the-wiza rds.com/home.asp (remove spaces) First, in IE, hover over the top main menu nav. A dropdown appears. In IE7 and 8 I find that the menu flickers when you move from one sub-item to the next. This seems to occur off and on. Secondly, if you hover over any of the dropdown nav and then move away from it and then move your mouse over to the product image below. Does it disappear? If it does, just click anywhere on the screen and it will come back. Again, I am unable to narrow down what the cause it. Be aware that the CSS code is very heavy and overused. Nearly 4000 lines of code. This template was meant for another shopping cart and so a good chunk of the code are now redundant but I am not allowed to remove them. *sigh*

Learn the skills in demand first. I don't mean market wise but for what it requires you to get your job done. Flash is one thing I like to learn but the demand is not there for me to learn it because I have a little more than enough to do what I am doing now. So, I basically outsource what little flash work to another coder. I know just enough to make some tweeks but that's about it. I agree with Ben that you should master the skills of hand coding HTML/CSS first. Get at least the basics for Photoshop (or whatever graphic editor you use). I have one designer I use that started out doing HTML/CSS/PHP but then he later learned Photoshop in which he became quite masterful as well as having a great eye for graphical design. Since then his main focus is graphic design whereas HTML/CSS/PHP are secondary tools that he rarely uses. My skillset is HTML and CSS first, Photoshop next, PHP, ASP and JS thereafter. I want to master PHP and ASP next but with the work load I have, I just don't have time for it which is why I outsource it. So in saying, you will need to determine what your demands are and satisfy them first. If you got the time, then you can learn as many of them as you can but you will never master all of them. You can have a PhD in medicine but that doesn't mean you can know it all muchless do it.

IE to be removed from Microsoft operating system 7
newseed replied to Wickham's topic in Web Design News
From my understanding it is suppose to be released officially on 10/22/09. Newegg.com had a pre-buy special rate of $99 for a limited time for upgrade version but that was a few weeks ago and it was for a limited time. -

If you are not processing XML then you don't need XHTML. HTML 4.01 will work fine. Just be sure you use the correct Doctype.
-
Blog are a good way to get some traffic but thats if you post a few times a month or more.

It does break in IE6. The main cause is the dropdown menu in which IE6 will need a bit of javascript for it to work. Right now the dropdown likes are all expanded. The other issue is the transparent pngs. Both can be fixed. Just use a bit of jsquery script that you can find at cssplay.com and one of the many png fixes out there.

Need to brush up on your HTML skills too. Actually, the CSS is fine but the HTML is not. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed at ante. Mauris eleifend, quam a vulputate dictum, massa quam dapibus leo, eget vulputate orci purus ut lorem. In fringilla mi in ligula. Pellentesque aliquam quam vel dolor. Nunc adipiscing. Sed quam odio, tempus ac, aliquam molestie, varius ac, tellus. Vestibulum ut nulla aliquam risus rutrum interdum. Pellentesque lorem. Curabitur sit amet erat quis risus feugiat viverra. Pellentesque augue justo, sagittis et, lacinia at, venenatis non, arcu. Nunc nec libero. In cursus dictum risus. Etiam tristique nisl a nulla. Ut a orci. Curabitur dolor nunc, egestas at, accumsan at, malesuada nec, magna. divs do not have self-closing tags like some tags do which is specifically for XHTML. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed at ante. Mauris eleifend, quam a vulputate dictum, massa quam dapibus leo, eget vulputate orci purus ut lorem. In fringilla mi in ligula. Pellentesque aliquam quam vel dolor. Nunc adipiscing. Sed quam odio, tempus ac, aliquam molestie, varius ac, tellus. Vestibulum ut nulla aliquam risus rutrum interdum. Pellentesque lorem. I have used this with great success: IE Collection Let me say first that IE8 has a developer tool bar. Just looking under Tools from the browsers dropdown menu. Once the toolbar opens you will see in the middle top of that developer toolbar that states Browser Mode: IE8. Just click on that and you can change it to render IE7 on the fly. Change it back when you are done. Like you, I had the same setup...IE8 with IE6. My first install of IE Collection didn't go well because IE6 was existing and so IE6 broke the menu. Additionaly, it broke my bookmarks for IE8. It's best to uninstall IE6 first, reboot and check IE8. It all should be working fine. Now run IE Collection. Install IE6 only (because you already have the IE7 rendering tool as stated earlier). That means you will need to uncheck everything except IE6. Thats it! Your IE6 should be working fine except maybe for the bookmarks. This was never meant to be a fully function IE6 browser anyway but instead to view how your page would look for this version.

Not sure how to go about this but take a look at this: do orshox.com/tab-pages-fea tured-v2.html (remove spaces) You will notice a few things: 1. The tabs starting with 00, 01, etc. That is working with the tab-pages.js script. It works very nicely. 2. Next button in the content (as well as Previous / Next on other tabs content). I need to somehow get Next / Previous to do just that. When I click on Next, I want it to go to the next content of the tab (same as Previous for previous tab) but I am not sure how I can achieve this based on the source I have now. What I don't want is to reload that whole page again. I just need it to go back and forth between contents just like the tabs are doing. Any suggestion?
-
Ok, I still have an issue. The tabs script using a show/hide css in which the first tab will show by default but the other tabs are set to display:none until you click on them thus they content for the tab appears. When viewing this in IE6, it will not load any of the png images for any of the tabs that were set to hide. In this case, if you click on SHOCI ABSORBING FOAM, it will load the content. However, you will not see the 'Car Dings Happen' png image as well as the 'Click Details' image. It seems that the pngfix would have to run again when you click on any of the hidden tab contents in order for it to work?
-
You are right. I don't recall that the fix you used is the method I used before but just simply applying a clear:float just before the close div where the paragraph resides seems work well. Nevertheless, either one works. Thanks.
-
Ok, per same link in my original post, I notice that the big tabs are not working in IE6 like the other browsers. Only 'OVERVIEW' and 'SHOCK ABSORBING FOAM' can be tested here. I can mouseover them but it doesn't change to hover state even though I can click on the link. Also note that when you click on either of those tabs, the small white text disappears. When they do appear, I get a greyish underline. Update: Not sure if this IE8.js is behaving erractically or what but I now see the small white text even if I click on it but the greyish underline still persist. If anyone has a stand alone IE6 (without IE7 or IE8 on same machine), maybe these issues do not occur.
