  1. Did you see my 2nd post? I added the table-row and it worked. I saw where it's supposed to be assumed, but maybe not in this instance? I don't know....
  2. Okay, I just played with it a little and was able to remove the space. #row { display:table-row; } #navigation { display: table-cell; vertical-align:top; width: 200px; border: 1px solid red; } #content { display: table-cell; vertical-align:top; width: 570px; background: #639d3b; padding: 0 25px; border: 1px solid yellow; } And then I added a new containing div called #row inside the #main div. It works for me in Firefox 3.5.4. I got the idea from here: http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2008/02/28/table-based-layout-is-the-next-big-thing/
  3. Was what you read written by Rachel Andrew? If so, was this it? http://www.digital-web.com/articles/everything_you_know_about_CSS_Is_wrong/ I have no idea, but I wonder if the fact that you don't have display:table-row; anywhere is causing the issue. ??
  4. I only provide websites built upon Wordpress or CMS Made Simple for my clients now. I just don't have the time (or desire) to update their sites with little content/image updates multiple times per month. Yes, Wordpress and the plugins need upgrading once in a while, but as previously mentioned, it's pretty easy to do. No longer do you have to download the updates, FTP them in and perform the upgrades manually. You can just click the link right inside the dashboard and do it yourself.
  5. Personally, I ask my clients to sign up for the accounts themselves. That way I'm not dealing with their cc info and they have complete control over the accounts should they decide to use someone else's services in the future. It's just easier.
  6. It looks like you may have already figured this out, but I wanted to mention that I use the Rich Text Widget for my clients. It puts a wysiwyg editor in the sidebar widgets and makes it easy for them to upload images themselves. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/rich-text-widget/
  7. Oh, I see. Thanks!
  8. Okay, I will convert them. I'm not sure what you mean by Curves, though. Here's how I just did one and it looks like it will print well on their copier (which usually makes things too dark): Image > Adjustments > Black & White > Maximum White preset. Sound okay?
  9. Just wondering about the best way to handle photos that I'm including in my kids' school newspaper. The copies will be black/white on canary yellow paper. Should I make them grayscale (or black & white) for the best and clearest printing or leave them in color? Hmmm.....
  10. Congrats on your new macbook! I am jealous!!
  11. Yep, that's it. Thanks, Ben! Sometimes something so simple can stump me for hours.
  12. I found this thread, but I'm not sure what to do with the info. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/247722?replies=3
  13. When I go to Users > Authors & Users > and then click on my username, I am trying to fill in the Biographical Info box where it says, "Share a little biographical information to fill out your profile. This may be shown publicly." The problem is that if I try to divide my text into paragraphs, they aren't sticking. I can see in the admin that the paragraphs are there, but out on the website, it gets displayed as all one paragraph. Looking at the source code, I see that there is indeed one at the beginning and one at the end - nothing in between where I added line breaks. I've posted this question on the WP forums and received no answer. Does anyone here know if there is there a way to fix this? ETA: I forgot to mention that I've tried to physically add or tags, but they don't stick either. And there's no wysiwyg editor for this section. Hmmm...
  14. I like it, Ben. It seems a little more balanced. Good job!
  15. I've always found the nameserver to be accurate. I've even had a client tell me the name of her host and when I checked the whois, it showed a different name. After investigating, I found that the client gave me the name of her reseller (her web designer who resells) and I had found the actual host. Does that make sense?
  16. I always just do a WHOIS search at NetSol or something. http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp And then if it comes down to it, the host should have procedures to follow for your clients to gain control over their account. One of my clients had to send a letter on official letterhead and then verify some other personal info in order to gain control.
  17. Very nice, Eric! I agree with the others....I would add the "Website by..." link. I even include a blurb about it in my contract.
  18. Funny, right after I replied to your post, I got an email from one of their techs mentioning that they keep 5 days worth of backups. Great timing! Hopefully this will work!!!!
  19. Thanks, Eddie. I just sent them another email with that request.
  20. Hello, Unfortunately, you cannot do this with Photoshop. It requires HTML and PHP. There are quite a few to choose from. Just google something like "contact form script". It's been a while since I've implemented a stand-alone script, so I cannot recommend a good one. Perhaps one of the others can. Once you choose one, let us know and we'll help you get it working.
  21. One of my client's website was hacked on Friday. It was a Wordpress site and I do not have a current database backup. So, it looks like the whole thing needs rebuilt. I do have the custom theme files on my machine, but all the page content is gone. I can't believe it. How do you guys handle this type of situation regarding your fees and payment? Do you do the work for free? I highly doubt that, but I really don't know what to do. I feel bad charging for the rebuild, but I don't want to do it for free, either. Advice?
  22. I was going to suggest sending the client to Paypal via a "Pay Now" button and then returning them to your site with a Thank you/Confirmation page containing a form that requests their login info. Or do it the opposite. The form for the login info first and then the Paypal page after.
  23. I've never used any of them, but I can't imagine they'd be too hard to implement. I just did a quick search for multi language plugins for Wordpress. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/multilanguage
  24. Thanks, guys. I think saving image blocks makes sense. I'll look into doing it that way.
  25. I have a client who is requesting that I create a simple template for her to use on her Constant Contact newsletters and for any flyers or media releases that she sends out. Mostly, these will all be electronic, so it's not exactly print design. She wants to use the template (for the flyers/media releases) in Word. She'll convert these to PDFs, too. I'm looking for any tips on how to design a template to be used in Word. I've never done this type of thing before. TIA!
