  1. Hi, Everyone is correct; there is nothing negative about using the word 'the' in your domain. How long has the problematic website been up?
  2. Hmmm ... are you trying to upload a template? If so, PM me and I will look into it. ... Probably just a permissions issue. Stefan
  3. The great thing about this forum is that you can switch from skin to skin and use the one that you like best. Stefan
  4. We are addressing the issues as quick as rabbits. Stefan
  5. TV's come is three resolutions: Standard Definition: 420 x ? HD 720 HD 1080 So it comes down to what your target TV is. Stefan
  6. A CMS will give all kinds of extra capabilities. You are still free to skin it to make it look anyway you like, but now with the added bonus of having things like: built-in search built-in editors for easy site updates built-in members area built-in seo an easy to update infrastructure In the end, understand a CMS and building off of one, will make you a much more productive and competitive web designer. Stefan
  7. Hi, I haven't used Premiere, but since it is a video editing program and since you are importing images for screen display, I would import them at a screen size that is as close as possible to their approximate size on screen (meaning, as they will appear) .. so if you are outputting at say 1024x768, I would be importing images at that size. Of course, you should working at screen resolution: about 72-96 pixels per inch. Let me know what you figure out. Stefan
  8. Well, it seems there a few quirks with this skin ... the good thing though is that we will be fixing things and overall, I think this forum has a lot more to offer. Stefan
  9. Yes. But you can back up your email data and files before you rollback the virtual machine. This sort of rollback is not a daily thing ... just something to do when you have a virus or something major. Virtual machines go way, way beyond self-contained tabs ... In the last 10 years, the two best pieces of software I have used are: - Mac OS X - VMWare Workstation Stefan
  10. I have a totally non-conventional method but it is rock solid and makes using my PC (I use both Mac and PC) a dream. I use VMWare Workstation to create virtual machines in Windows ... so I have several virtual installs of Windows. Let me try to explain: Each 'virtual install' of Windows, is basically just Windows installed in a protected sandbox that totally isolates it from the rest of the computer. I have several virtual machines/Windows XP's with each having a purpose. So for example, I have one just for surfing the Web and email - if for some reason one day I pick up a virus, all I have to do is tell the virtual machine to erase everything and go back to where it was when I first installed that virtual machine/Windows .. virus free. ... This takes a click of a button and about 5 seconds to complete. I know it seems complex but it is really the future of computing because using virtual machines makes life so much easier. I personally use it for application testing and screen capture work. Stefan
  11. It will have the same theme in terms of color and imagery. But, we will be stripping out the left side bar. Doesn't matter though, you will be able to select the theme you like. Stefan
  12. Hi, For royalty free images we use istockphoto.com It has a good selection and a good search engine. Photoshop videos We have a collection of Photoshop videos coming out say Monday or Tuesday this coming week. One of the videos in fact is on laying a web page in Photoshop and then taking it to Dreamweaver for transformation into a web page. Stefan
  13. Hi, It seems we are finding some small yet annoying UI bugs with this template. We will have a new skin based on a less buggy template out next week. So at this time, do you guys find this new forum usable enough to start directing traffic to it? Thanks, Stefan
  14. Hi, I was wondering if you guys caught our new series of articles that delve into basic graphic design principles? ... I think this series is a worthwhile read simply because it will help to improve your basic design skills. Stefan
  15. I don't know about you guys, but the editor is a lot easier for me to use. ... Especially when adding links and list. Stefan
  16. Drupal and Joomla are very popular. Both are very powerful, where Drupal requires more configuration work and Joomla may not be as flexible ... but it is easier to set up. .. I've never used Joomla though, I am just repeating what I've heard. Stefan
  17. Hi, One of the nifty features of this community is the Downloads section - a place where you can upload and download different file types, rate them and comment on them. At this time, I've come up with 4 categories: Web Templates PHP Scripts Javascript Scripts Web Design Documents and Contracts The idea is to create a library of useful files for everyone. Stefan

    CSS & IE6

Man, that's like a 12 year old machine! If your PC were a dog, it would be 84 years old. ... No wonder it's slow.
  19. I've been using Dreamweaver since it first came out a long, long time ago. I never use the wysiwyg features and work with the code editor all the time. But once in a while I will quickly lay out a form or table with the point-n-click tools. Besides that, it has the built FTP and basic site management tools. I would watch some of my free videos to get a better idea and I would try the free demo for 30 days before shelling out the cash. The link to my Dreamweaver CS4 videos. I hope that helps, Stefan
  20. Yes and no. Most people click-through to get to sites these days. That said, when I have the choice, I do go for .com's first. Stef
  21. We are working on things ... Please remind me about this and we will update your account so it is set properly. Stefan
  22. .com domains have traditionally been the preferred domain extension, but these days it is of little importance. The one exception MAY BE that Google will consider country specific domain extensions (.ca, .us etc) with regards to search engine rankings by country. ... Though Google does do geo targeting (when it comes to search results), there is no way to know for sure, if and by how much Google weights country specific extensions in search results. Stefan
  23. Yes, we are looking at streamlining things a little - it is cluttered. Stefan
