{"id":3426,"date":"2013-04-24T15:36:57","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T20:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.killersites.com\/blog\/?p=3426"},"modified":"2013-04-24T15:39:05","modified_gmt":"2013-04-24T20:39:05","slug":"how-i-teach-web-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.killersites.com\/blog\/2013\/how-i-teach-web-design\/","title":{"rendered":"How I Teach Web Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.killersites.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/018.png\" alt=\"lightbulb\" width=\"128\" height=\"128\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2656\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hi,<\/p>\n<p>I had a conversation recently on how to best teach web design and programming, and I thought the main points of the conversation might make a good blog post &#8230; so here we go!<\/p>\n<h3>Stef&#8217; Web Design Teaching Strategy<\/h3>\n<p>There is a lot that goes into creating an effective web design or web programming training course, but I can reduce it to these three main principles:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Break things up into manageable chunks.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid tech\/nerd terms as much as possible.<\/li>\n<li>Filter what you teach &#8211; don&#8217;t try to show everything at once.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>My teaching style is based on my ten + years of teaching web design and programming but it is also based on my training in psychology and believe it or not, about 30 yrs of martial arts training &#8211; I use teaching principles and techniques I picked up from many styles of martial arts, from my many martial art teachers, and from a couple of broken noses!<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; You learn a lot when you get your nose broke, it&#8217;s true! <\/p>\n<p>The good thing though, is that I can guarantee that in my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.killervideostore.com\/videos-packages.php\">web design and web programming training courses<\/a>, you will not get your nose broken.
