It is very common for small business owners to have problems with their websites. These problems typically arise because of issues of communication with the web designers and programmers that they hire. <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8A big reason for this lack of clear communication, is because most small business owners don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know much about web design (and most web designers don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know much about business!) …\u00c2\u00a0 small business people also have no way of judging if the web design work being done, is any good. \u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8You have to be realistic, there is no way of managing the process effectively, when you are totally blind when it comes to how to build web sites.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8Do small business owners have to become web designers?\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/p>\n

Short answer: no. \u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8… In fact, they probably shouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s best to stick to what you know (that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s running your business) and let others take care of the stuff you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know.\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/p>\n

That said, I believe ALL small business owners MUST learn at least some basic web design, so that they can properly manage the building of their websites. To be able to do this effectively, you will also need to learn to speak with web designers and web programmers, in the language they understand: nerd-talk.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8What is Nerd Talk?\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/p>\n

You know, all that geek-speak, things like:<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8URL\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8Domains
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8
\nServers\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8
\nDynamic pages \u00e2\u20ac\u00a8
\nUsability, \u00e2\u20ac\u00a8Serp,
\noptimization\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8
\nDatabases, SSL, Encryption\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8
\nPayment gateways<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8… etc, etc. <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8For some of you reading this, many of the terms I just listed may seem like total gibberish, but in fact, they are all common aspects of even relatively simple business websites! You can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t blame someone for being totally lost about the web design process though … especially if they don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even know the basic language of nerd-folk and the concepts that they will throw at people!\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/p>\n

The Solution is to Learn Basic Web Design!\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/p>\n
