{"id":138,"date":"2006-12-10T23:22:55","date_gmt":"2006-12-11T04:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.killersites.com\/blog\/2006\/client-concerns-in-web-design\/"},"modified":"2006-12-10T23:24:14","modified_gmt":"2006-12-11T04:24:14","slug":"client-concerns-in-web-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.killersites.com\/blog\/2006\/client-concerns-in-web-design\/","title":{"rendered":"The hierarchy of web design client concerns."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ah, web designing nerds, you have studied hard, validated your pages and now you&#8217;re ready to leverage your skills for fame and fortune &#8230; ok, maybe for just a steady paycheck.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to the earning a living, what matters most, is what your potential clients are concerned about. <\/p>\n<p>The musings of ivory tower nerds (who probably don&#8217;t get too many jobs) often times does not help to pay the bills! <\/p>\n<p>&#8230; Code is not beautiful (a fat bank account is) and the Web standards means nothing to the people who put the food on your table.<\/p>\n<p>(Now I&#8217;m in trouble!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE HIERARCHY OF CLIENT CONCERNS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to web design, I think the hierarchy of client concerns are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Price &#8211; everyone wants to save a buck!<\/li>\n<li>Design &#8211; a website has to look good. Remember the job is &#8216;web <strong>designer<\/strong>&#8216; and not &#8216;web coder&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Usability &#8211; though clients have no idea what &#8216;usability&#8217; is, they just want the site to navigate easily.<\/li>\n<li>Google position.
