Comments on the style:
Nice clean layout and a good use of white space. The blue text looks good on the white and the main text is "above the fold" on an 800x600 monitor. Nice choice of font for the title and heading graphics gives it a modern feel suitable for a designer's site. The blue sky motif carries throughout the site giving it a connected feel.
Code Score (1-5) : 2
Comments on the code:
This site use a simple table layout which in itself isn't bad, but, there is no doctype or character encoding declared. Font tags abound and code such as table heights and declaring the margins in the body tag could all be dealt with in a simple CSS file.
Usability Score (1-5) : 3
Comments on the usability of the web site:
The lack of alt tags on images could be confusing as some are used for headings and navigation. The JavaScript used to create the menu has no alternative if using a text or java-disabled browser and actually caused my copy of NN4.7 to crash! The site structure is simple, but would benefit from the inclusion of some text links. Otherwise it's pretty easy to move around in.
General Score (1-5) : 3.5
Comments :
Julie has designed a nice looking showcase for her skills, which as a designer are evident. The pages loaded a bit slow (estimate 14secs on a 56k modem) which could be brought down by losing the code bloat and optimizing the graphics a little more. Shows you can get a good looking (graphically) site out of FrontPage 4 if you pay the price for code bloat and depreciated tags.
