Article: How the Web's Past can Point to Web Design's Future

Hi,

I've posted a new article on my blog that I thought might interest you guys.

From the article:

Someone recently wrote to me where they were concerned about the future of web design as a profession. I've summarized the question as follows:

" Given the rampant spread of website templates and point-and-click site builder tools (that more and more web hosts are offering) can web designers realistically expect to continue to make a good living building web sites for small business using traditional (from scratch) web design methods?"

Stef, great article. I think the last line summed it up for me.

The skills required today to build an effective website, are far more complex than they used to be.

For me it's all about skill. I'm gald that are people want to do web design as a hobby, or learn more about it, or use blogs to make a quick website. But there will always be two sides to the table.....Them & Us. I truly believe that people will start to realize that you HAVE to have someone with skills and experience.

Have you watched my videos on PHP?

If so, did you try writing code?

... It is important that you actually write code.

Yeah, I've watched a few of the videos and written the code. I guess I just wish I could do amazing things with it now instead of starting off with baby steps. I'm so impatient! lol
