IE handles favicons differently (and much worse) than firefox and the other browsers. I may be wrong, but I believe it will look for it each time you "go online." So, if you have IE configured to look for new versions of stored pages with each visit (under temp files settings), which is not default, or ask IE to clear your temp folder with every close, you may lose favicons until you return to the website again. - ---------------------------------------- "The art of life lies in a constant readjustment to our surroundings." -Okakura Kakuzo Save the developers<!> Maine Webworks |

Hi - realise this is quite an old topic by now, but I've noticed that adding icons in the 'usual' way doesn't seem to display them on the Mac - any tips regarding this? |

The one in the root directory must be called favicon.ico. It should be 16*16px as there is no sense in getting browsers to resize it. Edit; Amplelon said that it doesn't display on a Mac, perhaps a Mac needs it in the root directory.
