Yes that's true steff, most of the people now doesn't know the fundamental basis on internet which is for me the correction of the HTML or the Script such as PHP ASP JSP and so on so forth. And the SEO, actually people start to use flash which is for me a real poison for the internet SEO. The new designer choose the best beautiful way but with no idea of whats going after that... Boaf let's wait the next nerd generation :P ---------------------------------------- Website Promotion Guide |

Well I made my first web site in 1997, and for the most part I did it all wrong up until late 1999, and even today I still do things wrong but overall I have to believe out of the community I came up in (The anime Community) I am the best there, at least I like to think so. A bit of my history: When I first start out I use a programe called PageSpinner which is for the mac only, I use a very crappy, slow end mac up until like 2 years ago. The program I use on it was simple, and it basically like dreamweaver as it did the html hints and also had a menu of pull down forms to fill in the spaces. I also color coded every tag. Up unitl 2005 I use table layouts because it was easy, even know I knew it was wrong to do. I know code using CSS and I can't even think of doing a layout in tables again. I wouldnt say I know every HTML/CSS code by hand but I know what they all do and how to use them to get what I need done. I've never had any training in web designing at all, never went to school for it or took any classes. I learn it all on my own by reading articles online and trial and error. Today I use Dreamweaver and well never have any problems with it. I think my layouts come out good, as I dont use the designer mode of DW, in fact I dont even know what it does because I've always use the coding one. I hate drag and drop to no end. Some times Dreamweaver rewrites my code which I hate but I've gotten use to not using some features. I always try to follow standards and for a while when I was writing web site reviews for other sites, people use to hate me for ripping their sites apart because of using crappy code, and crappy layouts. I also cut my layouts in Photoshop, I basically make my layout there, but I always do it using a simple template like header, side menu, etc and I know what you can do and what you can't do coding. The smallest layout I've made for the base layout (not counting buttons and other misc images) has been like 4. My current layout is 6 main ones, but its light and for the most part loads fast and with it being all done using CSS. I wouldnt call myself a web designer or anything like that because I've had no training in it. What I do is the best I can do and just hope I can help others when I can. ---------------------------------------- Visit my web site, articles, reviews and tutorials. http://www.majin-planet.com/ |

what makes a pro web designer? Well, he must know rules in it. He must also know when to bend them and when to BREAK them. ![]() ---------------------------------------- A memorandum is written not to inform the reader but to protect the writer. Postcards Printing |

Admin and to all the others on this forum. I am a very "new" member, but not new to the web design sence, but I agree with all your posts. Even the topics about "Does someone need a certificate" for web design. Web Development is about your ability and not what you have on a wall. Personally the pillars of any professional should start off with the foundation (HTML, CCS, other programming languages, etc, etc). Once you master these skills (weather it be through books, tuts, or forums), and build a decent portfolio, you can start to call yourself a web professional. I'll be sticking around in this forum...love it. |

Quote by LSW: Web Designer - These tend to come from Grafik design, or are at least talented grafik designers. They see what a web site should look like and make it so. They place important on the look and not the content, forcing the info to fit the design. Web Developer - they tend to come from programming backgrounds or at least are good coders. They tend to see the content of the site, and therefore the structure that presents the content as more important. They create logical intelligent structures that offer the information in first place, then they worry about fitting a visual design to the information in a supporting role. Of course there are those that could be defined in the middle. I believe a term was used by Flash developers/designers called deseloper (design / developer). I really don't think it caught on but maybe we can come up with a term that's a bit more catchy - devigner???? NAAAAAAaaaaah!!! ![]() ---------------------------------------- Success is based on how much you spend. If it's not money, then the alternative is your time. The Kasper Group |
