I plan on posting things here to be used as references, I may be changing things often, adding, correcting. I will be doing it with edit, so keep an eye on the threads. I will add a note when it has been edited so you can quickly see that it has changed a bit. I feel very strongly about this subject, sometimes I get a bit radical (*grinning at Les as I think about JavaScript*). There are no laws on accessibility, no one will kick in your door. I will do my best to suggest ways to improve your sites for the disabled and search engines, but the choice is yours, just consider my words ad choose your route. So if I come on strongly, they are still suggestions. Not everything will specifically have to do with Accessibility, some are just tips for better web design. Some areas of Accessibility are not yes or no. Even experts do not agree on what is best. I will generally discuss the ways I feel are best, but will also point out the arguments when I can. This is a really complicated subject. You will never build a perfect site as any one person may have multiple disabilities and software matters that may make your best meant site hard to use. The goal is to make the web site usable for as many as possible. Some things like Contrast are personal opinion, no one can say for sure what is good, I may find your contrast to weak for my taste, but anther is fine with it. Hope I can help many of you improve your sites here. If you have a suggestion of a subject you would like covered (I will be posting on Accessible shopping carts once I have more info based on questions from IM, figure it is a good idea.), feel free to message me below. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by LSW at Jul 25, 2005 9:54:00 AM] |
