Hello everybody, So I'm looking for a good, cheap, and reliable place for web hosting. I'm completely new to it and I wish my class wasn't canceled this semester which covered nothing but web hosting. I've spent the last 4 hours looking around, and I'm having trouble understanding all of this information and specs and what not. All I need is a place where I can upload about 6 pages, FTP access, WYSIWYG would be nice but it is not needed, the ability to use JS for a stat counter, and a domain name. I really don't need all the 500GB, 10 email addresses, Apache, MySQL, and all that nice extra stuff. I would be happy with using a free hosting site and just purchase a domain name, but the problem is the ads. I'm putting together this site for someone who is involved in putting together a Writer's conference for Senior Citizens and they want it super simple. Anyone's help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm also looking to use this web hosting site to upload my resume along with a portfolio of my web design, electronic art, and 3D modeling work in the next few months. Thanks once again, krazigoddezz ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by admin at Dec 21, 2008 1:56:49 AM] |

I've had good experiences working with HostGator... They have had quick customer service when I have needed it, and their pricing is reasonable (starts at around $5 per month). For what you are looking for, most hosting services should work for you. @Mods / Admin: You think we should have a sticky regarding hosting on the new forum? Seems to be a common topic that pops up. ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative |

I've been hosting with (remove spaces) 3 i x. com for a while - they offer all kinds of features for $1 per month - I'm pleased with them. ---------------------------------------- ... |

And if you're a tree hugger like me, you may be interested in a "Green" host. These green hosting sites usually use solar or wind power. Might I suggest: www. think host .com (remove spaces) ---------------------------------------- The GEEK shall inherit the Earth. |

When I first have my web hosted, I had been using www. we bho stfre aks . com. They were and are still very affordable and great services. If I do not need to move my hosting in Australia (as my primary location) I would've stayed with them ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Thelma at Dec 22, 2008 6:09:26 AM] |
