Hi, I am releasing a new look for killersites.com. For example, my new page promoting my web design videos . ... Yes, a little shameless self promotion! Let me know what you guys think. Thanks, Stefan ---------------------------------------- Stefan Mischook Video Tutorial Store | Web Templates |

Very nice! The green and mint work well together. The tabbed look is good too and the idea of the green page header under the tabs is a nice touch, as long as you use it on every page! There is a small problem with overlapping text in the "What's on the videos" list when the text size is increased, but not a problem at normal text size. I'm happy to hear you like it. I can't credit beyond being setting basic direction ... someone else on the team built this out. ... Busy these days. Stefan ---------------------------------------- Stefan Mischook Video Tutorial Store | Web Templates |

Stefan, Here are my two cents... I do think that it is a better layout than the current one. I like the use of the tab menu, and I like the updated colors (well, ok, I'm not a huge fan of the mint green, which looks a bit too bright and yellow-y when it's used in large areas like the footer, though that may just be my monitor). I do like the use of javascript to change the quotes and the area just below the "What makes Web Design One stand out?" section. However, it feels like the space isn't always used properly (especially in the header -- there is a lot of wasted space), or things aren't lined up consistently, giving the page a slightly disorganized or cluttered feeling. The graphics used (blocks and person lying down) seem perhaps a little too much like standard stock photos or icons, and at least in my opinion, seem a little cheesy or overdone on other sites. I was bored, so I played with the design a little bit here: http://www.falkencreative.com/forum/killersites.jpg I don't mean to spoil your shameless self promotion , just thought I'd throw it out there in case it helped you or offered inspiration for a slightly different way to organize things to hopefully improve the page's consistency and organization.---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by falkencreative at Nov 7, 2008 2:01:05 AM] |

... Yes, a little shameless self promotion! I'm not buying that - I do sense a little bit of shame.... I agree with Ben - all but the little guy reading - I like him (maybe mirror him so he faces the text?). I definitely think the contact info under the footer should extend all the way across the wrapper, the matching background colors make the whole thing look as one, but the text and especially that border only cover a portion of it. After I'd looked at the dice a few times, I was thinking "grade school" --- but then, that really fits for teaching videos!!! ---------------------------------------- ... |

I'm not a big fan of the green. Plus, I personally, wouldn't use the color green (especially the same green as a bill color) when trying to sell something. "Subconsciously", I don't think it sits well with people pulling out their credit card. But other than that, it's real nice just like all the other stuff you put out. ---------------------------------------- Eric :~) Knowledge is Power ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by ewwatson at Nov 7, 2008 8:11:46 AM] |

Everything looks good except for that guy in the video. Any chance on touching up that face? Seriously, the only thing I do not like is that lime-ish green background for the top menu. You might try using the color that you have listed below (1. Simple). Otherwise, try the green you have at the every bottom of the page but make it a bit lighter. That's my two-bits worth. ---------------------------------------- Success is based on how much you spend. If it's not money, then the alternative is your time. The Kasper Group |

Hi, Great suggestions everyone .. I will take second look at it. "Everything looks good except for that guy in the video. Any chance on touching up that face?" I know, I know ... But I need to sell many more videos to cover the cost of the plastic surgery! Thanks. Stef ---------------------------------------- Stefan Mischook Video Tutorial Store | Web Templates |

Agree. A girl in a bikini would sell better... KillerSite's "Brandy explains Web Design 101" If not brandy, Thelma gets my vote. Doubt she will, so how about Tina Fey as Palin? *snicker* and we call it "Maverick Web Design 2.0" Guess this is what... KillerSites 5.0? I know of two beofre you and you have had two already eh? ---------------------------------------- Gu.aal kwsh yak'i itakw ijeet wugoodk LSW-WebDesign.com ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by LSW at Nov 7, 2008 12:52:51 PM] |

Here's a quick tip for your videos - if your camera has optical zoom, try placing the camera farther from yourself and zoom in. That way, things should look more natural. ---------------------------------------- Pavonis Mons | Listen of the week: "Residue of Desire" by Acumen |
